N. Hanson's Point of View:"Mom! I'm home!" I called through the house, locking the door behind me. She emerged from the hall, "Hey." My mother greeted me with a smile.
I smiled back. My mother walked into the kitchen, "How was your first day back?" She asked. I shrugged as I walked down the hall to my room, "Same as any other." My mother led out a light laugh. I dropped my bag on floor in my room. I walked back to the kitchen to where my mother was.
"You hungry? I have some leftover spaghetti in the fridge?" My mom suggested. I shook my head, "No. Just want some water." I stated, opening the fridge and grabbing a bottle. My mother nodded, "Where've you been kiddo?"
I thought for a minute, thinking back to when I was with Bryce. I looked up into Bryce's eyes, my cheeks turning a red color as I undeniably let my smile shine through. We swayed back and fourth to soft sound of the music. God, Bryce Loski the things you do to me. I know you're just fucking around, but how it plays with my mind. Making me want to stay here with you forever.
"Uhm- with- with Bryce. Doing some homework." I stated bluntly, opening the water. My mom nodded, "That boy could he trouble sweetheart."
I shrugged a little, "He's a nice kid Mom." I protected him, why was I? I shook my head at myself. My mother walked into the living room, sitting down on the couch, "He your boyfriend now?" My mother asked with a laugh.
"Who's your boyfriend?" My brother, Jace, butted in, walking to where we were. I furrowed my brows and shook my head at them, "Nobody is my boyfriend. Don't have one. Don't want one." I stated bluntly with a shrug.
That's a lie, you wish Bryce Loski was your boyfriend, I tell myself. I shake my head, No. Just Friends. Just Friends. Best friends in fact. Nothing more, nothing less. He's with Sarah. And you caused that. So, stop throwing yourself a pity party. Get over it Naomi. You guys have never been anything and won't ever be anything.
"I'd hope not." Jace commented. I glared at him, rolling my eyes playfully. He shook his head at me, "Cause I'd have to kick his ass." He stated. My mother stopped him, "Language." My brother and I laughed a little.
"How's Jenny?" I sassily asked my brother, sipping some of my water. Jace narrowed his eyes at me, "Bite me, Naomi."
I smiled a little, "I've done my work here." I spoke bluntly, walking towards my room. I walked into my room, shutting the door behind me. I grabbed my book from my bag and plopped on my bed, beginning to read.
My eyes scanned the page, but refused to turn the page since I hadn't even read the page. My mind filled with thoughts about Bryce still. Why can't I get over him?
"I've gotta take off." I said in a rushed tone as I realized the sun had almost finished setting. Bryce frowned, "Ah! Come on! Stay a little longer with me my dear!" He said with a light laugh.
I smiled, "I really can't Bryce. My mom'll call the police if I'm out for any longer." I stated, a chuckle leaving my lips. I began to walk towards to the exit, but Bryce grabbed my hand, spinning me around. My heart pounded against my chest, our faces becoming close to one another.
"Stay." Bryce begged me, his voice soft and sweet. Making want to stay even more. It sounded genuine, but I'm sure it wasn't. He probably just didn't want to walk home alone.
I sighed, "I'm sorry Bryce. I really gotta go." I told him, my heart hurting a little, not wanting to leave. Bryce nodded a little, "Okay. I guess I'll meet you here tomorrow right?" He asked.
"Of course." I said, trying to sound calm but I was bubbling with excitement. He chuckled a little, "I'll look forward to it."
"I bid thee good morrow Bryce Loski." I spoke lightly, pulling my face away from his. My hand slipped through his as I tightened my bag straps and walked away from him.
"Bet I'll beat you!" Bryce got in one last word. I laughed, looking at him momentarily, "No way in hell Loski."
"If there's a will, there's a way."
