High school sweethearts. That's what they're called. It's a label. A blatant one. One that doesn't really do justice to their love story. One that doesn't highlight all the good parts. Or one that doesn't even show the low points and how they got through them. How they conquered when people thought they wouldn't last.

Bryce's father definitely doubted it. He said that Naomi was no good for Bryce. Like she was below them. Which was ridiculous. What made them so much better, Bryce wondered. Money? Cause that wouldn't be true. It's not like they lived in some mansion. They lived in a neighborhood where all the houses look virtually the same!

How could Naomi be below them? Sometimes Bryce even thought that Naomi was out of his league. He'd catch himself smiling at her while she wasn't looking and he'd wonder, what is she doing with me? How could someone like her, ever love someone like me?

Naomi's brother, of course, was on Bryce's ass for a few years for breaking her heart at sophomore year's spring homecoming. He'd hold it against the boy all the time. Until he finally realized Bryce was perfect for his sister. And he hated the word "perfect". But, it was true.

Naomi's mother loved Bryce. She constantly was reminded of a younger her with Naomi's father. She'd always gush about it to Naomi. Telling her how much her father would've loved Bryce. How he would've cried watching Naomi graduate.

When you love someone for so long, you'd think it would fade. Real love has ups and downs. It's not always perfect. You'd think that over time, you'd be over it. That eventually all the love you had would be gone, you'd be drained. That if you held onto something for so long, you'd waste it. Spoil it.

They were still young. But they knew it'd last forever. That no matter what happened, they'd end up together.

But it wasn't like that. They fought so hard for one another. Years of yearning for each other. And when it finally happened, it was a magnificent beast. And over the years, they never loved one another less. They argued occasionally, but at the end of the day they'd both ramble about how sorry they were, then tell one another they loved each other.

They didn't need to be by each other's side every second of the day. Naomi could go off on her own to study. Bryce would go hangout with his friends. Then they'd come back together, it's like they hadn't missed a beat.

There wasn't ever unreasonable jealousy on one persons side. Cause they both knew how much they loved each other. After everything they'd been through, they knew. And they never forgot to remind one another every day.

Whispering quick "I love you"s to one another. As Naomi pressed a kiss to Bryce's cheek when passing him in the halls. When Bryce started to drive, dropping her off and yelling a quick one to her as she walked into her house. When they parted their ways at lunch, each saying an I love you before walking off. Small notes left in one another's lockers with details about what they'd do after school and a small I love you scribbled at the bottom. I love you being whispered to Naomi as she woke up with Bryce beside her. Whenever they had the opportunity to, they'd say it. And it never got annoying or old. Each time they spoke the words, they still felt the same thing that they did when they first heard it.

Cause they were in love. Really in love. They worked at being together. It wasn't just some fairy tale all the time. Although, sometimes it seemed like it.

"Happy Graduation Day!" Bryce spoke cheerfully, enveloping his girlfriend into a warm hug. Naomi nuzzled her head into his chest before pulling away. Both of them still had their arms wrapped around the other's waist. Naomi chuckled, "Shit, we're getting old."

Bryce chuckled, leaning down and pressing a kiss on the button of the girl's nose. Naomi giggled a little, "God, I love you."

"I love you too." Bryce whispered back. They smiled at one another.

"Do you think we should get back to our families? We are going out for dinner all together." Naomi spoke with a laugh. Bryce shrugged, "In a minute. I just wanna be with you. In this moment. As kids still."

"You're sweet." Naomi gushed, pecking the boy's lips.

Bryce's eyes searched her, god he didn't want her to leave. Sure, they still had this summer, but summer goes by fast. Before he knew it, they'd be heading off to college and it'd be somewhat long distance. They'd only be an hour away, but it was a big change from being 5 minutes away from one another.

But, Bryce knew they'd make it. Maybe they'd take a break over college, but they'd be back together. It was always her. It could never be anyone else. It was never anyone else. They'd always go back to one another. After an argument, whatever. They'd make it. He knew he'd never love anyone more than her. He trusted her. She was everything.

Everyone knew they'd make it. They had to.
