"Drink, drink, drink, drink!"
That was all I heard at every corner. Did the Vice Chancellor really commend excessive drinking at this party?
"No, just a little but you know how students are, anything unlawful is their calling." Tess answered, that made me realize I had voiced my thoughts out loud.
"I see free seats nearby. Let's hurry before others occupy them." Ana announced and we hastened our steps to get there. When we were comfortably seated, I felt the urge to ask her a question.
"Why are you in a hurry to seat Ana, I thought you came to have fun?"
"Yeah, but I need to study every one first. Know the hot guys and the nerds, the bitches and the goody two shoes, and most importantly, organize my thoughts."
Oh! That sounded like a cumbersome plan.
"I agree. We should plan it all so as not to get..." Tess' speech was interrupted by a male voice.
"Hi, my name is Daniel and I've been watching you nonstop since you came in." He said.
"Who is he referring to?" I whispered to Ana.
"It's Tess." She whispered back.
"Hi, I'm Tess and these are my friends, Cassie and Ana." Tess introduced Ana and I to the guy, scratch that, Daniel.
"Enchanteur mademoiselle," He kissed the back of my palm and I felt giddy, "Et vous." He did the same to Ana's.
"Wow! He speaks French? Too much sauce." Ana whispered to me again and I nodded.
"Can I have this dance with you Tess?" He asked and instead of answering, she stood up and soon I heard their retreating footsteps.
One down, two to go!
"You should have seen him Cassie, he's so handsome. I blushed the whole time he spoke."
"Describe him to me." I just wanted a kind of information, although I doubted I'd get the perfect imagination.
"He's about five feet eleven inches tall, dark hair, muscular body, grey eyes, he looked rich because I could tell he wore an expensive suit. The right package for Tess." She informed me the details of Daniel and I imagined him in one word; Hot.
"I pray we find our packages tonight as well." I prayed, with my eyes closed but it sounded like a mere statement.
"Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" Ana shrieked.
Have you ever experienced a moment where you have your mind focused on meditation and then someone produces this sharp, shrill outcry or scream that scares the crap out of you and all you can do is clutch your heart and pant like a dog?
Have you?
That was exactly how I felt when Ana shrieked. If not for the fact that she was my cousin and my best friend, I'd sucker punch her right now.
"Ana, are you crazy? Why do you keep acting this way, scaring the crap out of me all the time? What, did you see a ghost?" You definitely couldn't blame me for my outburst, I believe she deserved it.
"For the gazillionth time, I'm so sorry Cassie. It's just that I found the guy we met at the restaurant that day?" She lowered her voice in regret.
"What guy?"
"The guy at Sweet Love restaurant, who couldn't take his eyes off you." Her statement piqued my interest immensely.
"It's like he has been searching for you the whole time because when I screamed, his attention switched towards us and now he is coming over."
What! Coming where?
"Here." Ana responded. I couldn't believe I had voiced my thoughts for the second time tonight.
"What should I do, should I start laughing and acting like I'm having fun already, should I look sad like someone dear to me just died? Ana, I'm so nervous." My hands kept fidgeting terribly.
I'm such an emotional wreck!
"Listen to me Cassie, I want you to be yourself. Any man who comes to you must see your true self and if he is the right man, he'll absolutely love you for who you are. You're beautiful, smart and kind. Don't let nothing, especially the fact that you can't see, discourage you. Okay?" Her words moved and encouraged me.
"Okay. Thank you so much. I guess I needed your speech to function brilliantly." I replied.
"Cool. Now I'm going to leave you both for a while. You're with your phone, call me or Tess when you get tired and want to go home." She whispered. I guess the guy was getting nearer to us.
"Don't go yet, please." I begged.
"I have to. You're an independent woman. It's time you did things yourself. I love you and will be waiting for your call if anything happens. Besides, I can't have my share of fun if I babysit you, can I?"
"Fair enough. Take care of yourself." She kissed my cheek and left.
Now, all I had to do was stay calm and remember to breathe.
"Hey!"
Just one word.
Just a word was enough to make my heart reel. This guy by far, had the best male voice I ever heard.
"H... H... Hi!" I stuttered. Girl got it bad, huh?
"I'm sorry but you look so much like someone I know." He said in the sweetest British voice I've ever heard. His accent was similar to that of Tess' but had a richer tone.
"Um, I don't think so. I doubt I'm anyone's doppelganger." I replied
"Forgive my manners but I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Jason." He said.
"I'm Cassiopeia but everyone calls me Cassie." I replied.
There was a deafening silence after my introduction that I couldn't decipher. Was he still on the table with me? Had he gone? Was he real or just a fragment of my thoughts?
"Hello, are you still there?" I asked, worry written all over me.
"Damn!" He swore.
"What's wrong? Did I do something wrong."
"Cassiopeia, it's me, Jason. Jason, your childhood friend."
His words shattered me and all I could do was stand up in shock.
Oh my gosh! They've finally met after being separated for so long. Hope you're enjoying the story?
