i recommend listening to the song for the most feels.

perfect, ed sheeran.

two and a halfish years later...

on our third anniversary, josh took me back to the clearing we fell in love at. it was decorated all the same, i had chills and goosebumps running up my arms. it seemed like whenever those stupid paper lanterns and fairy lights were hung up anywhere with the little flower fairy lights and gold streamers, something important happened.

we ate the same damn meal, sausage pizza from papa john's and dr. pepper. we listened to the same damn music, we played the same damn game, uno cards sprawled out on the same damn hunter green blanket we sat on.

we talked about the last three years of out lives, all our favorite memories, all the sad times, like how Spooky took his last breath earlier that month, how we saved each other.

under the light of the fairy lights and the moon, the same damn song that we slow danced to came on. the end of all things started pumping out of the speaker on the ground next to us. josh smiled at me, brushing his now pink hair out of his face and stood up, offering me a hand. he pulled me up and grabbed on to my waist. we danced through the song, my head resting on his chest the entire time, humming along.

collar full came on next and josh broke away from me, placing a chaste kiss to the top of my head, before pumping the volume up and dancing to the song in an extra goofy way. i giggled and joined in, our hands in each other's hands, bodied rocking, eyes closed, until the song got to the part we kissed at the first time three years and a month ago.

josh backed up a bit. the rest was a blur to me.

"y/n. i never thought i would be saying this. you have made me so incredibly happy," he turned to the speaker and paused the song and i smiled obliviously at him. it took a few more moments of josh telling me about how perfect i was and how lucky he was and how much he thought he didnt deserve me to realize what was happening. tears brimmed my eyes and i bit my bottom lip. he went on, he looked so nervous, yet so happy until he got down on one knee.

"y/n"

"will you make me the happiest man by marrying me?" he asked as he opened a little velvet box, showing me a gorgeous ring

"will you make me the happiest man by marrying me?" he asked as he opened a little velvet box, showing me a gorgeous ring. i gasped and let the tears roll down my face, i couldnt speak. josh's eyes got wide and he looked up at me, "what, do you not like the ring, fuck i, i'm so sorry y/n i'll g-"

i nodded my head violently, finally able to get words out. "no you dummy, you could have proposed with a ring pop and i would have been equally happy. yes i'll marry you josh." i said, tears streaming down my face and josh chuckled anxiously, he held my hand out and shakily slid the ring onto my left ring finger, before hitting play on the speaker and standing up, pulling me into him and kissing me passionately.

as we swayed back and forth into the kiss, teeth clashing as we smiled, collar full ended and perfect by ed sheeran came on, josh finally pulled away from the kiss and pulled me into his arms in a big bear hug, rocking me back and forth as we danced to the song. "i love you so damn much y/n" he whispered in my ear, sending shivers up my spine.
