The piercing sound of metal grinding on metal was the last sound that Abby heard before drifting into a black abyss.

Movement and sound drifted around her like fog, vague voices entreated into the edge of her mind, the only clear words her consciousness caught was blood and transfusion. Unaware of her surroundings she tried to fight her way back to life, struggling through the mass of darkness that surrounded her.

A small prick on her skin sent blazing fire through her veins, engulfing her body into a hot Furness. Screams bellowing through the room as the pain intensified causing her whole body to lift off the bed she lay upon.

Her body arched and trembled trying to purge the fire within her. Another scream as the burning travelled to the back of her neck, bringing harsh cries from a distance.

Then numbness crept in, the pain slowly receding, as her body fell limply onto the bed, welcoming the darkness that drew around her like a loving blanket.
