William's POV

"Why? What are you trying to accomplish, by letting the whole world know you care about some girl? Tonight, was supposed to be about you. It was supposed to be about our family. What is so special about her?", My mother asked as we walked inside the house.

She obviously was upset.
But then again upset was an understatement.

"You", I finally spoke.
She turned to me.
"What?", She asked.

"Don't make it seem as if tonight was supposed to be about me. It was supposed to be about you. That's all it's ever been about. Just you.", I say.

"How can you even stand here and tell that bold face lie, tonight was supposed to be about our family", she said.

"What family?", I asked.
She turned to be uncertain.

"This has never been about what I wanted. This is Matthew's dream, that you placed on me, because he is no longer here.", I said with a deeper tone.

She didn't say anything.

"He is gone! Both him and dad are gone and they aren't coming back. And you refuse to see it, Mom. You forced into this stupid headmasters position, when I never even wanted it. You did!", I shout in anger.

"For years.. you controlled me. Control my life. Who I hanged out with. Who I dated. Just because Matt tolrated it, doesn't mean I will", I said.

"William", she called me.
"No. This time you listen.", I told her.

She stood quiet.

"I don't want the headmaster position anymore. I just want to have normal life.", I said.

"But you're not normal, sweetie. If anything your far from normal", she said.

"Because of what?! The money. The fame. The popularity? Or the name. The famous Henry's. The image of this forsaken family?", I asked with more anger in my voice.

"Stop that nonsense. Right now!", My mother told me.
"You're only acting out because of that girl. Ever since she's gotten into your life, you've been different.", She said.

"Do you even hear yourself right now? Not everything is about my girlfriend and I, okay", I said.

"Girlfriend?", My mother asked unaware of the circumstances of Alex and I.

"Yes. My girlfriend. Alex is my girlfriend", I said seriously.
"Don't be ridiculous", she said walking away.

"Regardless of what you think of Alex, she happens to be the best thing that has ever happened to me", I say.

She stopped in her footsteps, turning around towards me, with tears in her eyes.

"Take it back", she said.
I was confused on why was she crying?

"You don't mean it. Take it back. Now", she said.
"Or what? Make me break up with her", I asked.

"I-I'll transfer you to a different school", she said thinking that would stop us.

"I'm sure her and I can make a long distance relationship work", I said.

She was furious. But behind all the make up, she was just in pain.
She took at breathe, sitting down in the chair.

She began crying.
"I can't lose you too. I've lost so much. Your father. Your brother. I refuse to lose to you too", she said.

"There's one thing you forgot. You weren't the only one who lost them, okay. I was there. The whole time. I watched you pretend that everything was okay. I watched you drink away the pain. The only thing you did was hide it from yourself.", I said.
