I've been stuck here so long her screams are just white noise.

Going.

Droning.

White Noise.

My knees are always quaking, my stomach endlessly flipping.

I can't mourn.

Her death is forever edged into my mind.

Kerstion.

Gone.

Old news.

Camile likes to laugh.

Just when I emerge from the fire- fighting my way back to the island- she pulls me back in with her.

She's immune to the sobs escaping my mouth, the pleads I try to stop from coming.

I thinks she's getting tired.

It's been a while since I've seen her and felt the memories crawl into my stomach again.

The fire burns, but I take it. My clothes are nothing more than rags now, my face covered in ash and cheeks pink from the exposed flames.

"Ardith..." I call.

Nothing.

"Koba?"

Silence.

Wandering while I can, my fingers graze rubble, the cool release of the rocks pulling me onto the surface so fast the heat of fire rolls off of me lovingly, kissing me one last time before dissipating.

Camile hadn't found me.

Wherever I am...

Looking around I don't notice much.

The road stretched endlessly into nothingness and I felt drops of water on my skin.

Farther on it looked light sunshine was cracking through, rain falling harder making a sun shower.

I ran to it.

My mouth is so dry the water is almost intoxicating.

My feet stumble as I run, my arms pumping at my sides so hard my body loses feeling and a blossom of pain blooms in my lungs.

The drops of water are welcomed greedily, my legs giving way and I fall face first into the closest puddle I can find.
Sticking my face into the water I slurp eagerly, my nerves tingling with ecstasy as the cool water replenishes my tongue and the aqueous droplets blend into my skin.

It's so good.

This is bliss.

The world around me is grey, the sky warm and rain cold.
