" I dont belive i have seen you before" the head Herbalist said, turning to face me as soon as she finished treating the young boy.
"I am Shiryuki's friend. My name is Alex and this is Shep" i inrtoduce us and shep gives a single wag of his tail as a greeting. not that they would know that.
"Shirayuki!" the Herbalist looked suprised "ill take you to her" she added before standing up from the small stool she had been sitting on beside the one bunk and motioning me to follow her.
"this place smells strongly of herbs. its hard to tell how many are here or where they are" Shep whined and i stiffled a laugh, which earned me a strange look from the Herbalist.
"so Alex how long have you known shirayuki?" she asks as she continues to lead me down a few hallways
"around 8 months" i simply say glancing down at shep and cant help the small smile that crosses my features as i see he is on his guard .
"she hasnt been in the capital long...." she trailed off
"i lived with her for a while in Tonbarun till she left so i decided to follow" i simply say as i run a hand through Sheps fur and he calms a bit at the touch.
"Why follow her if i may ask" she pressed on and i let out a soft sigh
"she reminds me of a sister i had when i was young.....before i was cast out" i let my bangs hang over my face so she couldnt see my expresion which was a mix of sadness and longing for my sister.
"Alex!" Shirayuki exclaimed as the herbalist lead me into a small corador. A youung boy around the age of ten, with brown eyes and hair to match, was with her
"Shirayuki . hi " i simply greet her with a smile. Shep let out a soft bark and ran up to her as i followed behind slower.
"you wanted to talk?" Shirayuki looked at me her eyes filled with a mixture of happyness, guilt and a small amount of fear
"Mind if i take Shirayuki with me for a little while?" i direct the question towards the herbalist.
"i dont think that will be a problem, how about you Ryuu?" the herbalist asked turning to the young boy
"were almost done for the day, i can finish. you go Shirayuki" Ryuu stated in a monotone voice
"are you sure?" shirayuki looked a bit unsure but Ryuu just responed with a hum.
Shirayuki lead me and shep to a large garden not far from the medical building. Shep took this time to lay under a tall tree that was at the top of the hill, and we followed not far behind. we sat under the tree for a while before i decided to breake the silence.
"You fit in here with all of these guys.... i feel like i dont belong and should scram" i added a slight laugh at the end
"everyone is like a kinda family here. well not everyone but those who ive grown close to" she said as she leaned on the trunk of the tree
"i can tell." i paused for a moment before continuing. "after this i think i will head out and look for greener pastures" i state as i lay on the soft grass,
"your leaving!?" she looked shocked. "but you just got here"
"Shirayuki. look around you, i dont belong here in. im a wanderer, a loner, a wild man as some my call them. you on the other hand, you belong here i can see it in your eyes. this place and the people who live here make you happy." i start and shep lets out a soft whine at the thought of leaving Shirayuki behind. " this place is like the one i was born in..." she looked at me with shock "that way of life i was born into was shattered the day they left me in the village i grew up in. i dont think i could ever live this type of life knowing that my original family my find me and send me away yet again" i sigh as i finish what i wanted to say.
