Chapter 14: I Have a Brother!?

There was a knock at the door the next morning. The girls and I were still asleep, but my mom wasn't so she answered the door.

"Come in Nathan." My mom said.

"Where's Jasmine?" he asked.

"She's upstairs with the girls"

"Oh ok. I can come back later"

"If you want to. The girls should be gone by nine."

"Ok thanks"

I heard the whole conversation, you know with me being a vampire and all. I woke up and Ashley was up with me. I went downstairs with her to the living room in my black bunny bottoms and a white cami, with my bunny slippers. We sat on the couch and talked. Ashley mostly talked about Brandon, and I kept telling her she had a boyfriend. The next girl to wake up and come downstairs was Lilly, then Roxanne. My mom saw us all in the living room and decided to start making breakfast.

"What would you girls like for breakfast this morning?" My mom asked.

"Special pancakes" Everyone said at once.

"You girls love them don't you" My mom laughed and went into the kitchen.

We talked and watched tv. Our favourite show was the Big Bang Theory. When the show was over my mom called in the dining room to have breakfast. Once we ate,we all went back to my room and packed up. When it was nine we went back downstairs and the girls left.

"Nice slippers" Nathan joked as he came in the door once the girls left.

"What are you doing here?"

"I came to ask you something." He started. "After I turned you back at the tower, I couldn't stop thinking of you. I just can't get you out of my mind. I know that sounds a little cheesy, but.. Will you be my girlfriend Jasmine May?"

I had my hand over my mouth trying not to scream in excitement. "Yes!"

Nathan came over to me and planted a kiss on my lips. I ruffled my hand through his shaggy black hair. We pulled apart and seconds later there was a knock at the door. I went over and answered it an Brandon was standing out there again.

"How come you're here again?" I asked.

"Whose here?" Nathan came over to the door. "What do you want?" he said trying to be nice.

"I came to talk about Alanna's threat." Brandon explained.

"Which is what?" my dad said coming up from behind. "Brandon?"

My mom came to the door. "Brandon!" my mom hugged him. "Oh I thought you would never return"

"Mom? Dad?" Brandon said.

"Wait what's going on here? I'm confused" I said.

"Jasmine. Way before you were born. When we first became parents. Your mother gave birth to Brandon. He was a happy boy until one day we changed him into a vampire just like you, when you were asleep. We decided to tell him after two years. He got so mad he couldn't stand it anymore, so he ran away and we never saw him again." My dad explained.

"Let's sit down in the living room and discuss this" My mom said as we all went over.

I didn't sit down. "So now I have a brother? That I never knew about?" I was a little mad. "Why didn't you tell me? I would've liked to know even if I had the possibility of never seeing him again!" Nathan came up behind me and put his arms around my waist.

"Jasmine. We didn't tell you because we didn't want to bring back the pain it brought us when he left."

Nathan stood beside me and Brandon came over to me and rested his arm on my shoulder. "So I guess you're my sis" He said smiling.

I put my shoulder down so his arm came off of it. I was mad at my parents, I turned around and walked out the door. I ran to the forest and went deep into it, so they couldn't find me.

"Jasmine!" My mom said as I ran out the door.

"I'll get her" Nathan said.

"No. You stay back. She's just like me. Mad at her parents for not telling her the truth. I'll go get her" Brandon said. "Besides, she is my sister now."

I was running through the trees in the forest crying. "Why didn't they tell me" I thought to myself. "Why has most of my life been secrets being kept from me?" As I was running I screamed as I fell to the ground. "Stupid roots" I got back up and kept running until I came to a clearing in the middle of the forest. I wanted to be alone so I put up a barrier with my magic all around the clearing.

"Jasmine!" Brandon was calling as he entered the forest. I could hear him. "Jasmine where are you!?"

"I'm over here" I said quietly in the clearing. He heard me from the entrance of the forest.

"Please stay. I want to talk to you"

"Fine" I didn't want to but he was my brother. I had to give him a chance.

It took him a while to find me but he finally found me lying on my back in the flowers in the middle of the clearing. I could feel him outside the barrier so I put it down for a little bit, just enough time for him to get through.

"Finally found you" Brandon said.

I sat up as he sat down. "Why has my life been filled with secrets?" I started to cry. "Since I got to Parkview, everything has changed. I found out I'm a vampire, my parents are 290 years old, I'm the vampire princess, I can fly, I have magic, I was captured by Alanna when I was seven. And now I find out that I have a brother" Brandon pulled me closer to him and hugged me.

"I know it's tough. I went through the same thing. That's why I ran away. I couldn't take being told all these things that were kept from me my whole life. I was mad at mom and dad. I was captured by Alanna to, but she captured me when I was three. I didn't know what was going on"

"When you were three?" I wiped my eyes with the back of my hand.

"Yea. Alanna threatened to kill me just like she threatened to kill you, unless they gave up the throne. We were living in the castle at that time until they gave birth to you. That's when they moved back in with our grandparents. They wanted to protect you from Alanna."

"I still wish they would've told me. At least that I had a brother."

"Yeah. I feel ya."

We sat in the clearing for a bit longer, while Brandon was holding me in his arms.

"We'd better get back." Brandon said.
