Chapter 5: The Fair

The sun was just rising as I got up. I went to my closet to get clothes. I got a pair of blue jean shorts and put a belt to go with them. I took out a sky blue cami and put it on.

I went downstairs and was almost scared to death as I walked into the living room.

"Nathan! what are you doing here? You almost scared me to death!" I scolded him a little.

"Don't worry you'll never be scared to death because you can't die" he said sarcastically.

I rolled my eyes "very funny. But seriously what are you doing here?" I went over to the door and it was still locked. "And how did you get in!"

"I know where your parents hide the spare key. And I came here to see if you wanted to go to the fair today"

"Sure that sounds fun."

"We should get going if we want to get our tickets right away"

"Seriously. It's only seven in the morning if you don't know already"

"I know. In Parkview, whenever there's a fair, mostly all the humans line up to get tickets and if we get there early we won't be standing in line forever."

"Oh ok lets go then"

We went to the fair and nobody was there. I went to go see what time they opened and the sheet said they opened at 8:30am.

"Nathan." I said. "They open at 8:30 not 7:30!"

"I know"

"Huh?" I was confused

"I wanted to go early so we could go to the diner and have breakfast with you"

"Ok" I said as we walked to the diner, which was a minute walk from the fair.

"Table for two please" Nathan said to the waitress.

"Right this way" the waitress said as she lead us to a four person booth. "Here are your menus" she said handing them to us.

We looked over our menus when Jerome and his girlfriend Ashley came in. They spotted us and came over to our table to sit down. Nathan got up and moved to sit beside me so Jerome and Ashley could sit together. He also gave them his menu and I let him look with me.

"Can I take everyone's order?" the waitress said as she came over to our table.

We all ordered and we talked for a bit.

"Are you guys coming to the fair today?" I asked.

"Yea we are actually." Ashley said.

"Will we see you two there?" Jerome asked us.

"Yep" Nathan and I both said at the same time.

The food came and we all started to eat. We kept talking some more so I could catch up on things that happened when my family moved to Springfield.

After we ate we all headed back to the fair. By the time we got there, there was a little bit of a line up. It wasn't too big so we got our tickets in about ten minutes. Once we got in we saw Lilly and Mathew with his girlfriend Roxanne.

The first ride we went to was the Ferris wheel. We all went on it together, then we split up and went on different rides. Nathan and I went on lots of different roller coasters and sometimes we would meet some of the others.

By the time we left the fair to go home, it was about 8:30 at night. Since the night was still young, everyone decided we would go to the cafe to get a bite to eat. Soon after we got our food, two people came in. One of them was Alanna, and we didn't know who the other one was. He was a shady guy who had a black fedora on and one of those tan long coats you would see in mystery movies.

"Who is that guy?" I asked quietly.

"We don't know" Roxanne said back to me.

"We've never seen him before." Mathew said beside me.

Everyone was on guard to protect me, since apparently they thought I was the main target, but Alanna never said she wanted me dead or something else like that.

When we got to my house Nathan was about to leave, but then he turned back around.

"Hey Jasmine, I want to show you something" he said.

"Show me what?" I asked.

"Watch this"

I watched him as he started to get taller. I was wondering what was happening when I looked down at his feet and saw he was flying.

"How are you doing that?" I asked.

"That's one of the awesome things that come with being a vampire. Cmon try it" he said flying around me.

"How?"

"Just believe in yourself. It's kind if hard to explain."

"Thanks for the help" I joked.

I closed my eyes and imagined me lifting off the ground. Once I opened my eyes I looked down at my feet and I wasn't touching the road. Soon enough I was flying all around the sky.

"Haha this is so fun!" I said.

"It's awesome, except..." he started to say.

"Except what?" I asked, but then I started to fall slowly, gradually getting faster.

"Jasmine!" he said racing after me to catch me.

He caught my hand and I held on to his. He slowed me down and we landed back on the road safely.

"Except, you need practice. Being a new vampire and all"

"Yea maybe" I was a little shaky, since I was almost falling to my death, which is ironic because vampires can't die exactly.
