Chapter 16: A day without Alanna

I woke up the next morning to see Nathan making breakfast and Brandon still sleeping. I went downstairs and Nathan was making scrambled eggs.

"Smells good" I said.

Nathan turned around to see me. "Brandon still sleeping?" He said as he kissed me.

"Yea. Was there any trouble last night?"

"No, nothing at all."

"Hey sleepy head." I joked as Brandon came downstairs slowly still waking up.

"Morning" He said ruffling his hair.

The eggs were done so we sat down and ate. Nathan and Brandon talked a little more about the plan and Alanna's plan.

"I'm going to go for a little walk. Is that ok?" I said getting up from the table to put the dishes in the sink.

"Should be fine. Besides there are guards all over Whiterun, so if Alanna does manage to find you, the guards will help protect you" Brandon said.

I rolled my eyes, but they didn't see. I put my black flats on and went outside. I visited some of the shops that I didn't get to explore before. I came to a shop that sold jewellery, then I came to a different shop that sold fresh fruit and vegetables. I walked around the upper part of Whiterun and a little girl came up behind me.

"Hi princess" She said.

I turned around to see who it was. "Bella! Glad to see you again"

She smiled. "How come you're back?"

"I'm staying with my brother for a bit"

"Who's your brother?"

"Brandon. Do you know him?"

"Everyone does. He's like the popular person in school. But not mean, he's nice."

"That's good to hear" I said with a little laugh.

"What's this from?" Bella said pointing at my black streak in my blonde hair. "You didn't have it when I met you before"

"Oh this. I um.. I dyed it at the hairdresser in the human part of Parkview" I lied.

"Cool!"

"Bella! Time for lunch" Her mom said coming up behind. "Hello princess. Glad to see you again" We both smiled.

"Mommy, mommy. Did you know Brandon is her brother" Bella said excitedly.

"Well isn't that nice. Well we better get going for lunch"

"Ok cya later"

"Who was that" Nathan said as I screamed.

I turned around. "Nathan! You gotta stop scaring me like that"

"Aw I'm sorry" He said placing his lips on mine.

"Her name is Bella. We met the first time we came here" I said.

"You want some lunch?"

"Nah I think I'll pass"

"Do you want a drink?" He said winking.

"I guess I could go for one. But I'll try to make it quick though."

"Ok. Then we'll go to an alley. Meet me at the gates." He ran away with his speed to the gates.

I decided I would tell Brandon where I was going so he wouldn't flip out on me. When I told him he was fine with it and I met Nathan at the gates. We walked back to Parkview and found an alley in the human part.

"Yo, what are you two doing here? This place ain't for outsiders" A gangster said walking up to us.

I rolled my eyes. "Just passing through" I said as I lunged for his neck. I drank his blood and he was lying on the ground afterwards.

"That was quick" Nathan said putting his arm around my shoulder as we walked back to Whiterun.

"I told you I was going to make it quick."

"You two are back early. Didn't get a drink after all?" Brandon asked once we walked inside.

"We just went to an alley" Nathan explained.

"Ah, I see"

"We should go somewhere for dinner" Nathan said.

"Like where?" I asked.

"We should go to the bannered mare" Brandon suggested. "The food there is pretty good"

"Is it like a restaurant?" I asked.

"It's an inn with sort of a bar."

"Ok we can check it out I guess"

We went outside and headed to the bannered mare. We went inside and sat on a bench beside the fire in the middle of the room and someone came over to ask us what we wanted to eat. She came back with our food and we ate and talked. Afterwards we headed back to Brandon's house and again Nathan and Brandon took turns keeping watch, while I was upstairs asleep.

"Hello?" I asked in a pitch black room. I couldn't see anything so I used my magic to put a fire in my hand. "Is anybody there?" A figure flew past me quickly. Then I was in the forest back at Parkview. The shadow was chasing me again. I ran and ran until I hit a cliff. I stopped dead in my tracks, but the shadow was still following me. Behind the shadow there was a figure of a human body. I looked to see who it was, it was Alanna. She came towards me calming the shadow, then created a whirlwind spell to blow me straight off the edge of the cliff. I was falling and screaming.

I screamed and woke up breathing heavily. I looked at my watch to see what time it was and it read two thirty at night. I couldn't get back to sleep after the nightmare I just had, so I went downstairs. I passed the room the boys were sleeping in and Brandon was the one sleeping. When I went downstairs I found Nathan sitting on the couch watching tv in the living room. There was a window at the side, so he could still keep watch.

He looked over and saw me. "Hey." He said with a soft voice. "How come you're up?"

"Couldn't sleep" I explained.

"Nightmare?"

"Yea"

"Well come here" He said patting the spot beside him.

I sat down and put my head on his chest while he put his arm around me. I told him about the nightmare, not leaving any detail out. I started to fall asleep and before I knew it, I was asleep in his arms. He kissed my forehead lightly and left me with him.
