Letter Seventeen

We had been dating almost a year when you went on a vacation with your mom. I was excited for you to go, for you to get away from all the stress you were under. But a day after you had left, I got sick with bronchitis and pneumonia.

You told your mom that you had to go back to take care of me. Surprisingly, she agreed and you drove all night until you arrived at my front door. I remember my mom telling me later when I recovered that I better keep you around because anyone who would do that was worth loving.

I didn't take her advice when maybe I should have.

You made me soup and said, "This has been in my family forever. It's like magic."

But no, Tatiana. It wasn't the soup that was magic. It was you.

Truth: I knew I had fallen so head over hell in love with you that it terrified the hell out of me.

And I don't know if I've fallen in love with someone so quickly since.
