Letter Twelve

Your favorite movie was The Princess Bride. I found that out two months later. You were so excited to have me watch it with you that you were practically bouncing up and down with glee. You have the heart of a child, Tat.

Maybe that's why it was so easy to break it.

Do you remember what you asked me when the credits rolled?

You asked me if I would be your Wesley. At the time, with you on my lap, staring into my eyes, it was easy to tell you that I'd be whatever you needed me to be.

But in hindsight, it was much harder. I could be whatever you wanted me to be, Tat. All you had ever wanted me to be was myself. What was harder was being someone you needed me to be.

And what was hardest was being someone that you deserved.
