Wren's P. O. V.
"Hey Charlie," I opened the front door to my sister's apartment and saw her boyfriend standing at the door.
"Hey Wren. Is Em almost ready?" He asked stepping inside.
"I think she's finishing her makeup," I told him sitting back down at the kitchen table.
"What are you working on?" Charlie asked looking at my laptop.
"Editing some pictures," I sighed.
"Oh yeah? I know you take all of Em's instagram pictures. You're really good."
"Thanks Charlie." I smiled. My sister came out of her room and gave Charlie a kiss.
"Where are you guys going?" I asked.
"We're going to a party at a bar. You should come," Em said.
"Em you know I don't do parties.."
"But this will be fun!"
"I'd rather just stay home."
"You always stay home. It's Friday night!"
"Friday's haven't stopped me from staying in before," I retorted.
"But this is a special Friday, it's my birthday."
"Yeah, come on Wren," Charlie said.
"For me?"
"Okay, okay fine," I threw my hands up.
"Yay! Now go get dressed." Em shooed me into my room.
I looked through my closet and grabbed what I knew Em would pick. I wore some ripped skinny jeans, a dark pink crop top, and my vans. I went to my mirror and quickly brushed my already straightened hair, then put on some makeup. I didn't do much, but it was more than usual.
I walked out of my room and Em's jaw dropped.
"Who knew you could dress up like that?" She asked.
"I just thought of what you would wear from my closet," I shrugged.
"Let's go!" We walked out of the apartment and down to Charlie's black Mercedes.
When we got to the party, Charlie and Em went straight for the dance floor. I slowly walked over to a booth, trying to stay out of everyone's way. I sat down and pulled out my phone, looking through my pictures again.
"Those are some nice pictures," a guys voice said from next to me. I almost jumped out of my seat. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"N-no, it's okay," I waved it off. I hated talking to people I didn't know.
"Are those yours?" He asked pointing to my phone.
"Yeah."
"You're great behind the camera, but you'd be even better in front of the camera," he smirked. I just blushed. "I'm Alex." He sat down next to me.
"Wren," I said quietly.
"You don't seem like you wanna be here, Wren."
"My sister dragged me here for her birthday, but she left me."
"Oh. Well I could keep you company. If you'd like?"
"Um, I don't know."
"Come on, I'm tons of fun."
"Okay, sure."
He kept making conversation with me. I tried actually talking to him, but I'd freeze up. I could only get a few words out. Talking to people, especially guys, was definitely the hardest thing for me.
"Hey, I'm gonna get a beer. You want one?"
"Oh, I don't drink," I said.
"How about a coke?" He asked.
"Sure, thanks." He smiled before going to the bar. I looked down at my phone, then looked back over at Alex. I saw him walking back with a beer bottle and a glass. He sat down and handed it to me. I brought it up to my lips, but it reeked of alcohol.
"Alex I said I didn't drink," I told him.
"Well, why don't you try it?" he asked.
"Alex-"
"It's not as bad as you think. Just a sip," he smiled. I sighed then agreed. I brought the glass to my lips and took a drink. It tasted way better than I had thought. I drank more and more, until it was half empty.
"Damn, I thought you said you didn't drink."
"I don't." He started talking to me, and it was so much easier. I was going on and on abut whatever he had talked about. It felt great, but I started to feel a bit weird. The feeling felt familiar, and I knew I was in trouble.
"You feeling okay?"
"I think so. What was the drink that you got me?" I asked him, afraid of the answer.
"I'm not sure. Why, do you want more?"
"Actually, I'm gonna go to the bathroom." I said standing up nervously.
"Let's go together," he whispered, grabbing my wrist.
"No, I feel kind of sick."
"I can make you feel better," he pulled me into him. I pushed him away and tried to run away. It was pretty hard since I was all groggy. I was so close to getting out, when I bumped into someone.
