Wren's P. O. V.

When I woke up, it took me a second to remember why Jack wasn't there next to me. I slowly sat up and stretched, checking the time on my phone. Two in the morning. I also had a missed call from Jack and multiple texts. It was only five in Pennsylvania, so I didn't call him back. Instead, I texted him to let him know I was okay. Surprisingly, he answered within a few minutes. He called me on facetime and I answered.

"Hey, why are you up so early?" I asked when his face appeared.

"I could ask the same to you, but I just couldn't sleep knowing you hadn't answered."

"I fell asleep at about seven. I just woke up. You could've texted Daniel so you weren't losing sleep."

"He didn't answer, and I'm fine."

"How did your family take the surprise?"

"My mom and Isla cried," he chuckled. "We were all so happy. It's been raining all day so we just stayed in the house and spent time together."

"That's fun. Daniel and I talked for a while yesterday, then I came in here and fell asleep."

"How's your head?"

"Better I think. I don't have headaches as much, but I've been really nauseous and dizzy."

"I'm sorry babe. Being on the phone doesn't help, does it?"

"I'm fine, I wanna talk to you so I'll be fine." I shrugged my shoulders.

"I love you baby."

"I love you, too. It was weird waking up without you."

"It's weird not having you laying on my chest."

"You've been gone a few hours and I miss you so much."

"Me too." He yawned.

"Jack, go to sleep," I chuckled. "You can call me tomorrow."

"I'm fine," he waved me off.

"Jack you're yawning every five seconds and your eyes are barely open."

"Okay, fine. You take care of me too much."

"You're welcome," I smiled sweetly. "I love you babe."

"I love you too. Get some rest." We smiled and hung up. I placed my phone on the side table and turned on my side. I grabbed Jack's pillow and held it against my chest.

                                                                        ***

"Wren. Psst Wren," Daniel whispered. My eyes fluttered and I saw him sitting on the edge of my bed.

"Hm, what?" I asked sitting up.

"Hey, I forgot to wake you up and see if you want to come. i can wait for you if you want to come with me to see my family."

"No, that's okay. I'll stay here today, maybe go with you tomorrow."

"Okay. Call me if you need anything."

"I will, thanks."

"Oh, and I made some breakfast. It's downstairs if you want any."

"Thank you. Have fun today."

He stood up and left my room. I heard the front door close, then debated on if I should get up or not. I finally pushed myself up and off the bed, making my way downstairs.

I saw a plate of pancakes and bacon sitting on the counter. I put it in the microwave and waited as the time slowly ticked by. When I pulled it out, I sat at the table and dug in.

I heard a noise coming from the front room and I jumped out of my seat. I heard another sound and grabbed a knife from the kitchen. I slowly started walking towards the front door.

"Hello?" I asked. The doorknob started to turn and I got ready to pounce.

"God this door is so annoying, geez!" Aspen pushed the door open.

"Aspen! You gave me a heart attack!" I said putting the knife down

"Why do you have a knife?"

"Because I thought someone was trying to break in! What are you doing here?" I pulled her in for a hug.

"Jack was worried about you and I wanted to come see you."

"Well I'm glad you're here, I can't do anything except sit and stare at the wall," I laughed.

"Then I'll make sure you have fun."

"Thanks." We walked back into the kitchen and Aspen grabbed some leftover pancakes.

"Did you make these?" She asked.

"No, Daniel did."

"That explains why they're so bad," she laughed making a disgusted face.

"Yeah they aren't the best, but he tried," I laughed.

"How about we go out to eat?"

"Sure, sounds good. Just let me get ready." She nodded and I went back upstairs.

I put on some leggings, one of Jack's sweaters, and my Adidas shoes. I ran a brush through my hair, then went back downstairs.

"Where should we go?" I asked.

"Well I'm in the mood for pancakes, so IHOP."

"Okay." We went out to Aspen's car. She turned the radio on, but kept it quiet because of my head.

"So how'd you get a concussion? And break your wrist?" She asked, surprising me.

"Jack didn't tell you?"

"Nope, he just said it happened."

"It was a car accident. My fault."

"I'm so sorry."

"I was just stressed about something and I swerved and hit a car. He was fine, he had turned his car so I hit the side, but obviously I got hurt."

"I'm really sorry."

"It's fine." I changed the subject, asking her how it was back home.

We took pictures with the very few fans that saw us in our booth. We ordered our pancakes and chocolate milk and enjoyed our time together.

"Has Jack been treating you right?" She asked with a short laugh.

"We don't have to talk about Jack, Aspen-"

"Wren, I'm over Jack. Sure, it didn't help that he was literally the sweetest guy and went through hell so you'd have that job, but I wanted him to be happy. Once I got home I just started to like you two better than Jack and I," she laughed softly.

"I'm sorry."

"It's fine, I'm completely fine."

"Good. You're like the only girl friend I have and I don't want to have problems."

"I get it. So answer my question, is he treating you right?" she asked again.

"You said it yourself, he was the sweetest to get me that job and it only got better. I mean he asked you to fly to California just to make sure I was okay."

"He loves you. And it's good he does, because I'd have to kick his ass if he didn't." We both laughed.

"Thank you for coming. I would've been miserable for these four days if you hadn't come."

"Thank Jack."
