Chapter 7

They both remained silent after that video call with Lolo Noel. Kiefer wanted to open up the topic but too scared that he might ruin Alyssa's mood.

"Kief?"

"Ly?"

"Uhm, wala. Nevermind, baka hindi ako makapagconcentrate sa work mamaya pag sinimulan natin 'to." Alyssa said.

Kiefer just nodded. All he wanted to do at the moment is talk to his grandfather and know the reason of his sudden decision. He just can't let him decide without him agreeing. Thus, putting his life in three hundred sixty turn. He has so much plans for his life, for the company, his future business, and having a family soon is totally out of the picture.

"Sige Kief, salamat sa paghatid at sorry na rin." Alyssa said while unbuckling her seatbelt.

"You don't have to be sorry naman Ly." Kiefer said smiling. "Breakfast tomorrow?" He offered absent-mindedly.

"Huh?" Alyssa asked, confused of his offer.

"Breakfast date? Para masanay na tayo." He said joking. Alyssa bursted laughing. And he is happy seeing her that happy.

"Ang gago. Umuwi ka na nga. Epekto lang yan ng adobo." She said and went out of the car.

"Oh bro, asan ka na? Andito na ako sa Antonio's." Von said over the phone.

"On my way, five minutes Paps. Order for me ha."

The two gave each other a high five as soon as Kiefer approached the table where Von was.

"Anong nangyari sa 9pm na usapan? Galing kang date, ano?" Von asked as he offered the food and drinks to Kiefer.

"May hinatid lang ako. Mahabang istorya. So, bakit mo nga ako pinapunta rito?" He asked while munching.

"Ano na nga balita sa pinaplano nating negosyo? Mauunahan na tayo ni Allen, Kief. We have to double time kung talagang gusto natin na mag boom ito." Von seriously informed him.

"Allen? Bakit bigla bigla ata naging interesado siya sa tipo ng negosyo na gusto natin?" Buong pagtataka ni Kiefer.

Allen was their teammate during college in basketball varsity who always had bad blood against Kiefer ever since, but he knew it has always revolved with competition and popularity.

"Alam mo naman yun, idolo ka. Kung saang mundo ka gumagalaw gusto eepal din." Von replied laughing. "So we have to move fast para maunahanan natin siya Paps. Iba pa rin pag nauna di ba. More market, more money."

"Money, that's what we need, Von. A big amount of money. Saan tayo kukuha ng 20 million na capital?"

"Have you talked to your Lolo about it?" Kiefer nodded.

"Pagiisipan pa daw niya eh, masyadong malaki ang 20 million for a capital. Alam mo na dakilang intsik, kailangan lahat documented kung paano kabilis maibabalik ang return of investment at kung gaano kabilis masimulan ang pagbabayad."

They talked a lot more regarding their soon to be business. A dream business since they were in middle school. Kiefer even opened up to Von the topic about Alyssa and the scheme that his grandfather decided.

"Pumayag ka na kaya sa gusto ng Lolo mo?" Von suggested as if it wasn't a big thing.

"Loko ka. Kasal yun, Paps, kasal." Kiefer emphasized while scratching his nape.

"Get married for 20 million, hindi pa ako tapos eh." He looked at Kiefer and nodded. "Pumayag ka sa kasal kapalit ng 20 million at pangarap na auto shop." Von said gladly like he just won an academic competition.

"Thank me later, Kief. Sige na mauna na ako. Balitaan mo na lang ako. At huwag mo ako kalimutan sa entourage mo." Von teased as he pat Kiefer's shoulder.

He woke up with a throbbing headache.

It was a Saturday yet Kiefer was bombarded with endless phone calls and text messages from the office.

Though he wanted to stay in bed and nurse a hangover headache, he needed to get up and attend to the concerns of their company. Being CEO is a tough and demanding job but he just can't stop proving himself worthy of the position handed to him by his grandfather.

He has failed him twice and he vowed he'd try not to screw up again.

Kiefer finished everything past 2pm and Von hasn't stop pestering him regarding the business their planning to put up. Kiefer felt too fed up that he decided to visit his grandfather.

"So what brought my apo here? Are we gonna talk about your wedding plans?" Lolo Noel greeted Kiefer with a grin in his face.

Kiefer heaved a sigh.

"Pappi please." He retreated then indulged himself on the food offered to him by the househelp. "I'm telling you it is not what you think it is."

The old man just shrugged and stared at Kiefer. He knew he was up to something.

"Pappi, about the money na sinabi ko sa inyo noon. Can you lend me 20 million?" Kiefer asked. Hoping he would get a yes.

"I'm telling you Kief, 20 million is way too big for a capital. For what business again?" He answered while his eyes still glued on the newspaper.

"It is not, Paps. It's an auto shop, custom paints and body kits for luxury cars that's why we need that kind of amount." Kiefer stated.

"Are you really sure na papatok at mababawi niyo agad ni Von yan?" Kiefer nodded while finishing off his food.

"If you will agree then I think we need to prepare a good proposal plan on how we get to pay you." Kiefer suggested.

"What if I have a proposal?" The old man said, smiling.

Kiefer gave him a questioning look.

"Get married to Alyssa and I'll give you the 20 million in cold cash, payment may begin a year after." He quipped while tapping his fingers on the table.

Kiefer gasped and could not believe what he just heard. Just as what Von suggested.
