I have some OC's in the chapter. They won't be mentioned a lot after the next few chapters.

Evan's POV

Justin led me down the hall. We passed plain white doors. Most of them were open, revealing different teens talking. Eventually, Justin stopped in front of a closed one. He pulled a key out of his pocket. He unlocked the door and stepped inside. I followed. He trudged  over to the right side of the room and looked through a dresser. Justin pulled out another key.

"This is your key. Don't let anyone else take it. Remember to lock the door behind you when you leave." He told me as he handed me the key. I looked down at the shiny metal and fingered the grooves.

"So, do you want to go through your folder?" Justin asked. My head snapped up.

"S-Sure." I said as I opened it. Inside were various pieces of paper. Justin looked over my shoulder.

"That's your schedule. That's the activities you can do in your free time. Oh, that's your name tag." He told me as he pointed to different things. I gently pulled out my schedule.

"You won't have to do any of this today. We all start tomorrow. Do you want to meet some more people?" Justin asked me.

"O-Okay." I said. Great job Evan. Looks like you're sticking to one word answers today, a voice in my head sneered. I bit back a whimper and followed Justin out the door.

We walked down the hallway for a little bit until we stopped in front of huge double doors. He pushed them open. I shielded my eyes from the sunlight. A cold wind blew by as we walked across the grass. I shivered and zipped up my coat that I was still wearing.

"We can go back inside, I just have to find a few people." Justin explained as we walked farther away from the warm building. I scanned the area. There were only a few different groups of people hanging out. Justin led me over to one sitting by a large oak tree.

"Hey Justin." One of the girls purred as she sauntered over to us. Her long black hair danced in the breeze. Her green eyes flashed mischievously.

"Cut it out Jade." He muttered as his face turned crimson. The girl, Jade, smirked. Then she turned to me.

"Now who is this?" She asked.

"I-I'm E-Evan." I stuttered. On the inside I cringed. Connor had always made me relax and not stutter as much. But now he was in a coma and was hours away and-

"I'm Jade." She said before sauntering back to the rest of the group. Justin followed and I had no choice but to tag along.

Over the next few minutes I met Alissa, Brent, Jordyn, and Noah.

"So Evan, why are you here?" Noah asked. I froze. Don't tell them Evan. They'll hate you. Then you'll be all alone, a voice in my head whispered. I gulped.

"W-Well I u-um. I-I d-don't want to t-talk about i-it." I explained. Jade grinned.

"Oh come on. Just tell us." She teased.

"I-I really d-don't w-want to." I muttered.

"Awww. Is wittle Ev to scared to tell us?" She joked, a fake pout on her face. I felt myself start to shake. Ev. I could almost hear Connor say it. But then his voice was replaced with Jade's. I hadn't even been here for a day and I could feel a breakdown coming on. I felt everyone's eyes on me. I tugged my sleeve down.

"Jade, just stop. Evan doesn't want to talk about it." Someone said. Their voice sounded far away. Everything around me became a blur. Then it all went black.

I woke up with a start. I felt my heart accelerate as I looked around the unfamiliar room. Everything came rushing back. I was at Wayfort. I met some new people. Jade teased me. I freaked out.

I looked around some more. My eyes landed on a girl sitting in the corner of the room. She looked familiar. Then it clicked. She was Alissa, one of the girls I had met earlier. As if she had known what I was thinking, her head snapped up.

"Oh, thank God you're awake. I'm so sorry about Jade. She can be a real bitch sometimes." She explained. Alissa got up and slowly walked over to me.

"Are you ok?" She asked me.

"N-No." I whispered.

"I know you just met me, but do you want to tell me why you're here?" She questioned. I sighed. I might as well get it out now.

"I h-have r-really bad anxiety. And t-then to a-add o-on to all of t-that, my boyfriend t-tried to kill h-himself. M-My t-therapist got m-murdered. M-My depression got w-worse a-and I s-started cutting. And n-now I'm h-heere." I admitted. A tense silence settle down over us. I thought back on what I had said. Boyfriend.

"You're n-not homophobic a-are y-you?" I asked as I started to panic. Alissa quickly shook her head.

"No! How could I be homophobic when I'm a raging homosexual? I'm just trying to process what you told me." She said. We sat in silence a few minutes longer. Alissa was about to say something when a woman in scrubs burst into the room.

"Oh Evan! You're finally awake! You gave us quite a scare. You'll be staying here tonight just to make sure you're okay. Alissa, do you want to stay here too?" The woman asked. Alissa nodded. "All right. I'll bring you two dinner. Before I forget, tell Evan about the tradition. I'll be back." The woman said as she left. I turned to face Alissa.

"It's not really a tradition. Every night at some point, you have to write something down in a journal they give us. Justin dropped it off a little while ago." She told me as she went back to her chair. She picked the journal up off the floor and walked back over to me. I took it and flipped through the pages. A pen fell out. I picked it up and decided to start writing. Might as well get it over with.

Dear Evan Hansen,
today was an okay day and here's why. Today, you met your roomate Justin. He's pretty cool. Then he introduced some of his friends. Alissa's really nice. Maybe you two will be friends. Jade was pressuring you to tell everyone why you were here. You don't like her. You didn't get to spend a lot of time with Brent, Jordyn, and Noah. You'll have to find out more about them later. Right now, you really miss Connor. You wish he was here. But he's not. Just remember that you can visit him everyday once you get out. I should go now. Until next time!
Sincerely,
Me.

Hola! Happy new year! It's 2018!!! Hopefully it's an amazing year for all of you! I have to go back to school tomorrow. I don't remember my locker combo. Yay. It's probably jammed too. I feel like this chapter was really bad. I feel like I just threw in a bunch of new characters that aren't necessary and problems that I don't need. Just ugh. I hope you guys like it though. Thank you so much for reading! I love you guys! Happy 2018!
