Evan's POV

I felt somebody squeeze my hand. I squeezed back. I could feel my eyes fluttering before they snapped open for a second time. Right by my side was my crying mom.

"M-Mom?" I croaked out. She wiped her eyes, mascara smearing the back of her hands.

"Evan!" She shouted as she hugged me.

"Oh honey I'm so happy your awake!" She whispered before pulling away.

"W-What happened?" I asked her.

"Some son of a bitch sped through a red light and crashed into your side." She spat out angrily.

"What h-happened to C-Connor?" I questioned. She grimaced.

"Evan. He's in a coma." She told me.

"What? N-No, h-he can't be!" I yelled. Mom only shook her head before saying,

"He tried to overdose on sleeping pills. Because of that he's in a coma." I felt tears slip down my face. You pushed Connor away and look where it got you! Now, he could die! What's wrong with you Evan! Voices in my head shouted.

Mom wiped away my tears. She hugged me and held me tight in her arms. We stayed like that until I could feel myself drifting off to sleep again.

When I woke up for the third time, no one was in my room. I was all alone. Over the beeping of my heart monitor, I could hear another one. I looked to my left, and I again saw the still shadow.

I sat up in my hospital bed and got dizzy. After a minute or two, I kicked back my blanket and stood up. I tried to move, but then I realized I had an IV in my arm.

I remembered something my mom had told me years ago when she came home one day.

"You will not believe what happened today." She said as she dropped her bag to the floor.

"What happened mommy?" I asked her. She walked over to me, ruffled my hair, and sat down on the couch next to me.

"So today, everything is normal. I'm outside a room, just checking up on some patients. Suddenly, one of the heart monitors start going crazy. (Does that happen when someone rips out an IV? I think it does. Someone tell me if it's doesn't.) I run in and I see a girl trying to sprint out the door. She didn't know she was hooked to an IV. So when she ran, it ripped out and the machine told us. The girl was bleeding all over the place too. Evan if you're ever in a hospital, do not rip out your IV! It can get infected and make things worse." Mom told me. I nodded.

I shuddered. Guess I can't do that, I thought as I looked around the room for ideas. Then it hit me. I'll just move the IV pole with me!

I grabbed the base and gave it a gentle tug. It moved. So, I walked over to the other side of the curtain with an IV pole in hand.

When I saw him, I almost collapsed.

Connor looked broken. More broken than he had been already. His hair was greasy and matted. He had dark smudges under his eyes. He looked paler than before. When I held his hand, it was freezing.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I stared at his unconscious body. Look what you made him do Evan! He tried to kill himself! How could you do that! Oh wait, I know why. You're a disgusting monster. You push everyone away and ruin their lives. You're a burden to your mom. All your friends have to worry about you all the time. You never appreciate them enough. Why don't you just kill-

"Evan?" a voice called from the doorway. I let out a startled squeak as I snapped out of my thoughts. Wiping my eyes, I moved to peek around the curtain.

Standing in the middle of my side of the room was Julia.

Julia's POV

I looked over at the curtain. At the edge, I could see a face peeking out. It was Evan. I walked over to the other side and he jumped back. What I saw was a pitiful sight.

In the bed was Connor. He looked pale and on the brink of death. Evan look miserable. His face was red and tear-stained. I wasn't one for hugs, but he looked like he needed one.

Evan tensed as I wrapped my arms around him, but soon relaxed. I could hear him crying into my shoulder. I gave his back a few pats before I pulled away. Evan wiped his eyes and looked at the ground.

"You okay?" I asked him.

"N-Not really." He muttered. Even though he couldn't see me, I nodded. We sat there in silence before he asked me,

"What about y-you?"

"I'm okay, I guess. I'm just upset that my friends aren't okay. Connor's in a coma, you're in bad shape yourself, and everyone else is a mess. Everyone's so worried about you two. I just can't even believe all of this happened." I admitted. Evan hesitantly put his hand on my shoulder and gave it a few pats.

"E-Everything is g-going to be all r-right. M-Maybe not now, b-but I-one day it w-will be." He assured me.

After sitting in silence for a few more minutes, Evan began to fall asleep on my shoulder. With a sigh, I woke him up.

"Evan, you gotta go back to your bed." I told him. He groaned before dozing off again. I grumbled and picked him up. I carried him over to his bed while dragging his IV behind me. I tucked him under the blankets so he wouldn't freeze.

"Thank you." He mumbled. I walked back to the other side of the curtain so I could see Connor one last time. I grimaced. Evan would have it rough until Connor woke up. That is, if he ever woke up. From the way it looked, Connor would be staying like this for a long time.

Hola! Hope you liked the chapter. Julia, I hope you liked your POV! If you can guess who the couple in the room is from my last fic, you will get a cameo in this one! You get to describe who you are, what your personality is, and I will work out a scene with you! Cool! Anyway, today we went on a field trip to go see A Christmas Carol. It was actually pretty good. On the ride there, my friend Alivia read a few chapters of my fanfiction. On the way back I got her into Heathers. I had almost no homework and I'm so happy. Plus, I'm feeling better. My cough is worse though. Well, I hope you liked the chapter! I love you guys!
