TW: Self-Harm and abuse

Evan's POV

"Hey Evvy. You miss me?"

My eyes widened and my jaw dropped.

In front of me stood Marcus, (Y'all should know by now that I love to mislead you) a boquet of blood red roses cradled in his arms. In the other hand he held a plastic bag full of...

presents?

"H-Hi." I mumbled.

"Hey." He purred as he leaned in. Marcus' eyes fluttered shut and he kept moving forward. I quickly turned my head. His lips pressed against my cheek.

When he pulled away I could see a fire raging in his eyes. My hands were shaking so hard that they felt like mini earthquakes.

Marcus quickly grabbed my wrist and whispered in my ear,

"If you mess this up, there will be consequences."

I shuddered and led him inside. I forced myself to give everyone a shaky smile.

"E-Everyone, this i-is Marcus." I told them. All of my friends stopped whatever they were doing. They zeroed in on the two of us, Marcus' hand still on my wrist. His hand slid down to my own sweaty one and forced our fingers to lace together.

Jared, always having a joke for something, stayed silent.

"Come on in!" Leo exclaimed as he got up off the couch. With a big smile on his face, he walked over to us. Piper followed and took the boquet. She went into the kitchen, and I could hear her putting the flowers into a vase.

"Oh! I brought you all gifts. As a thank you for inviting me." Marcus said sheepishly, throwing on one of his masks. It was easy to believe that this was really him. That he wasn't some monster that plagued me everyday. That I had to do everything he told me to or else. That he was caring and loving and just the perfect boyfriend.

But I knew he wasn't.

Still, I kept that fake smile plastered to my face as he handed out gifts.

"Evan just tells me so much about you, and you're all so kind to invite me, I thought I'd just get all of you a little something." Marcus admitted.

Jared opened up his and found a bath bomb and a giftcard to LUSH. He threw Marcus a glare and, with a pout on his face, started cronching.

Jeremy and Michael ripped open their package to find Apocalypse Of The Damned 2. The two tried to cover their happy and awed faces but failed miserably.

Julia got tickets to Hamilton and freaked out, Piper and Leo got tickets to this new musical called Dear Ben Platt that they love, Zoe and Alana got tickets to the Franklin Institute, and Megan got something about bootlegs.

"What is it?" Julia asked as she leaned over her shoulder.

"None if your damn business. You'll have to pay some money if you want to see these bad boys. After all, I am a bootleg dealer." She said.

A bunch of thank you's could be heard as everyone pocketed their gifts or put them in a safe spot.

"So Marcus, why don't you tell us a little about yourself?" Zoe said as she patted an empty spot on the couch. He slowly shuffled over and sat down.

"Well, I work at the Starbucks not too far down the street. That's where Evvy and I met." He gushed, his eyes sparkling with love and happiness. I could see everyone softening, letting down their guard.

I stared down at my hands, clasped tightly together, and stood up. Marcus kept on talking and everyone kept on listening as I crept down the hall. I slid into the bathroom, shut the door behind me, and locked it with a click.

I couldn't control the tears sliding down my cheeks. I slumped against the door and slid down. I sat down on the cold, hard tiles.

A thought popped into my head.

I opened the cabinet doors and peered inside.

The razors sat there, in their pretty little box.

I reached in and grabbed one.

Before rolling up my sleeve, I took a moment to admire the blade. The moment quickly ended when I slid off the cover and started slicing. Tears fell faster and blurred my vision.

I only allowed myself a few more cuts before stopping.

Everyone would start to notice soon. They would come looking for me.

I pulled the bandages and gauze out of the cabinet. I ran water over my arm, some disinfectant, and bandaged it up. I washed off the razor, slid the cover back on, and put it in the box.

With my arm still stinging I looked around, making sure all my tracks were covered up.

There was nothing suspicious.

I gave the room a little nod before unlocking the door and stepping back into the hallway. I hear voices and laughter growing louder as I made it back into the living room. I quietly sat down in the same seat as before and tried listening.

"And we just hit it off from there! Evvy and I were so worried that someone would find out before we told all of you. I just wish I could've been there with him to tell you guys." Marcus exclaimed, his smile dazzling.

"Well, we are so glad that we got to meet you." Alana said.

"Thank you so much for the presents!" Jeremy shouted from the kitchen.

I pasted on a tiny smile. Marcus' eyes flickered over to mine. No one saw the death glare he gave me as he stood up. He crossed the tiny space over to me and snatched my hand. Marcus marched across the living room and led me outside.

"What the fuck was that? You left while everyone was grilling me? You were supposed to help me you stupid bitch! Back up everything I say! But no! You just had to leave!" He screamed in my face while gripping my arm. I winced and pulled away. In the moonlight, I could see his features grow furious.

"You left me to go fucking cut yourself? That's it! Have fun tonight because tomorrow you're moving in with me!" He yelled. I sucked in a breath and froze.

"W-What?" I whispered weakly.

"I've been meaning to do it for a while now. I have the perfect story too. Since it seems like I can't trust you anymore, you'll be moving in with me. Now go have some fun. Tell them something popped up. I'm leaving." He told me with a smirk. He marched across the frozen grass and climbed in his pick-up truck.

I stood there in the cold night. I couldn't go back inside just yet.

I watched his car pull away and drive off.

I don't know how long I was just standing there when I heard the front door open behind me.

"Its really cold out Evan. C'mon. Let's go inside." Piper said as she placed a hand on my shoulder. I blinked away the tears in my eyes and gave her a smile.

"S-Sure." I mumbled. She gently guided me back into my apartment. The warm air hit me and I threw on a smile.

I might as well try to have fun.

Eyyyyy. Y'all should really know by now that I love to mislead you. It's actually pretty fun. Anyway, I've realized that we are nearing the end of the book!(fic/thingy?) I think it'll wrap up in a few more chapters. And thennnnn I'll make a third one! Yay! It might be the last but I'm not sure yet. Thank you guys so much for reading! Love you!
