TW: Slight mention of violence. Like, it was mentioned once. Just want to be safe.Evan's POV
I took a deep breath before pulling open the car door. I pasted on a fake smile and climbed in.
"How was work?" Leo asked me as I slammed the door shut and buckled up.
"I-It was o-okay." I said with a shrug. I held back a shiver as I remembered Marcus hitting me. I rubbed my cheek subconsciously.
"Did anything else happen? Your cheek is really red. Is that a hand print? Did someone hurt you?" Leo questioned. My eyes flickered over to the Starbucks. Its was only for a few seconds, but I could see Marcus standing there.
He stared right at me, his face plain and neutral. He shook his head as a sickening grin grew on his face. I bit my tongue and looked back at Leo.
"I'm f-ine. I-I was j-just l-leaning on my cheek." I explained. My hands twitched. He squinted with a frown on his face.
"Just know you can tell me If anything is wrong." He told me. I nodded and let out a breath I hadn't known I'd been holding. Leo turned on the radio and pulled out of the parking lot. I leaned against the door and stared out the window.
Marcus gave me a little finger wave before turning on his heel and leaving my sight.
I rested my forehead on the cool glass window, trying to calm myself down. I gave my left wrist a little pinch. Within a matter of seconds it started to sting. I focused on the pain. That way, I wouldn't have to think about Marcus. Or Connor. Or all of the other problems in my life right now.
When I looked out the window again, we were already at our apartment.
"T-Thanks Leo." I muttered before pushing open the car door and hopping out. I slammed it shut and walked across the frosty grass. Leo was in front of me with his keys already in hand. He unlocked the door and shoved it open. I followed in behind him.
I took this as my chance to escape. I quickly shuffled off to my room. I gently closed the door shut behind me. I untied my green apron and layed it down on my bed. I glanced at the dark shadow under my dresser.
One foot.
Then another.
Step by step I walked over to that dresser.
I walked over to the razors.
In the blink of an eye I was there. I slowly crouched down. My hand hesitantly reached for the box. I could feel the dusty plastic under my fingers. I gently started to pull it out.
The floorboards outside my door creaked.
My head snapped over and I stared at the door. I could see the knob start to turn. I felt myself losing my balance and tipping backwards as the door opened.
"Evan? Its Leo." He called out as he opened the door wider. Light from the hallway shined in. I looked up from my phone, casually lying on my bed. I probably looked calm but on the inside there was a storm raging. I could almost not hear Leo over the pounding of my heartbeat.
"Do you wanna go out and do something with the quad? We don't know what yet, but we'll think of something." He said. I clicked my phone off and out it down.
"W-What's the quad?" I asked. Leo facepalmed.
"Basically its me, Piper, Julia and Megan. I should've said that earlier." He told me. I stared at my blanket for a moment. I decided to ignore the bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Uh, S-Sure." I agreed. I smile spread across his face.
"Start getting ready. We'll pick them up in a few minutes." Leo said. I nodded and stood up. He closed the door behind him with a soft click.
I clenched my fists, digging my nails deeper and deeper into my skin. What were you thinking? You could've been caught, I scolded as I shook my head. I took a few deep breaths, pasted on a painfully fake smile and opened my door.
*Le time skip brought to you by me actually going to bed and waking up at a reasonable time. I'm very proud of myself*
"YO I'm JOhN LAuReNs iN tHe plACe tO BE a TWo pInTs iS sAM ADamS bUt I'M WoRkInG oN tHrEe!" Piper screamed in time with the track.
"hHHHhAAaaA!" Megan croaked from the backseat, sounding like she was dying.
"THosE rEd coAtS dOn't wANt iT WiTH mE cAUse I wiLl pOp cHicKa pOp THesE cOpS tiLL I'm FReE!" Piper yelled. I giggled and turned in my seat to look at the three girls in the backseat.
"OUI OUI MON AMI JE M'APPELLE LAFAYETTE! THE LANCELOT OF THE REVOLUTIONARY SET! I CAME FROM AFAR JUST TO SAY BONSOIR! TELL THE CASSE-TOI! WHO'S THE BEST? C'EST MOI!" Julia shouted.
"BrAh bRaH!" Megan growled before Leo paused the track.
"We're here." He told us. The girls' disappointed faces lit up and they practically fell out of the car. A smile spread across my face as I carefully climbed out of the car and onto the pavement.
"W-Where a-are we?" I asked once all of us had finally gathered on the sidewalk. Julia and Megan grinned while Piper and Leo blushed.
"Well, Piper was telling me about this really nice diner Alana and Zoe went to. We decided to check it out and it was really nice so we wanted to show it to you guys too." He muttered as he glanced at the sidewalk and Piper. I nodded and we started walking.
Within a few minutes, we stumbled across a diner called The Hidden Gem. The fluorescent sign flickered a few times. Julia pulled open the door and we all filed inside.
The five of us found a booth in the back corner. We all piled in and waited. A waitress in a pink poodle skirt spotted us and rushed over. She handed us menus.
"I'll be back in a few minutes to take your drink orders." She told us before walking away. I scanned the menu and quickly decided on what I wanted.
"Guys, look! There's a jukebox!" Megan exclaimed as she pointed across the room. Her eyes twinkled and she started bouncing up and down.
"Does anyone want to go over there with me?" She asked. The four of us shook our heads. Megan pouted.
"Please? Just one of you!" She pleaded.
"I-I'll go." I volunteered. She gasped and started cheering. I decided to leave my phone on the table as the two of us crossed the room. Megan and I flipped through the songbook. We wound up not choosing any songs and heading back to the table.
I felt my palms start to sweat and my heart stop when I saw Julia, Piper and Leo crowded around my phone. I stopped, a few feet away from the table.
"Guys? What's wrong?" Megan questioned. They looked up at us, confusion written on their faces.
"Who the hell is your boyfriend?"
Heeeey guuuys. I hope you liked the chapter. Right now I'm feeling really shitty. I have to come up with a science fair idea, I'm running out of time, (Like Hamilton) and I'm also waiting on an email from my science teacher. And then to add onto that my back hurts, It's that time of the month for me, and I'm just super uncomfortable. Yay me. Hahahahhahah. And that's not all! On Friday I found at that my mom doesn't believe in people being bisexual. She said that they should just decide girls or guys. She said people can be bicurious but not bisexual. She told me this, obviously not knowing I'm Bi, and I almost cried right in front of her. Guess I'm never coming out of the closet to my fam. So yeah. That's what's happening with me. Thanks for reading! Love you guys!
