The cabin had cleared out. Jack had ordered so. Everyone had gone home. The air now was empty and stale. As unbearable as a hot summers day, but as cold as a winters one.

Now only Jack and the body of Mark remained. Jack sat next to Mark as flakes of skin continued to fall from his face. Mark hadn't moved for over half an hour now. He stayed still eyes closed and body still.

If Jack didn't know better he would have swore Mark was a wax figure.

" I'm sorry Mark" Jack breathed, tears still scarcely running down his face.
" I didn't know you couldn't feed for so long, this is my fault".

Jack sobbed again, slipping a hand in Marks. The boy held the flaky hand of Mark. It was far more colder then normal, it was as if he was touching cold stone. The green haired boy gazed down at the falling skin.
It was as if Mark had been sunburn and now peeling. The dead cells were falling off in tiny amounts.

" I didn't want this to happen. Death....death is the worse thing that can happen" Jacks voice cracked.
" I'm sorry Mark. I though I would be able to save you I-I didn't know" He sobbed once again.

Sean pressed his forehead against the hand he held. Eyes closed as they cried and silent sobs escaping his mouth.
" I know now that I didn't want another pet".
Jack breathed in deeply.
" I wanted a friend".

Complete silence overtook took the cabin as Jack sobbed quietly. The boy had never been able to take Death well.
Not after his brother...
After his father...
After him...

Death had always been something that had been permanent. Once someone's eyes close and their heart stops. There's no going back. It's as if their life force had been stolen and then the body that they once inhabited. Was hollow.
Their skins turned pale, void of emotion and health.
The eyes stayed motionless, no glimmers and recollections held in them.
The hair turned to that of straw, no longer vibrant and healthy.

But what pained the most was the vampire dying as well.
The skin peeled off in small amounts, falling off the corpse like snow.
The fangs would eventually fall out, after yellowing.
They eyes also turned red, as if so the body could be identified as vampire even after death.

Jack sat, as still as the hand he held. His breaths were hoarse and his eyes were bloodshot. The man sat, broken.

I swore I wouldn't let anyone else die...
I swore everyone I controlled or those I cared about would never perish...
I just want to protect them from the cruel world we live in!

Tears flew down from that of frustrations.
The human felt as powerless as a deer in headlights. He knew there was no going back.
Even vampires death were forever...

It had started to rain as Jack dug. The man stood in a waist highly hole, dug out to give just enough room for what he needed. The green haired boy threw out his shovel before climbing out of the hole.

With shaking hands and hitched breathe the human approached a corpse. Falling apart at the seems, it was wrapped in plastic.

It was the best Jack could do, given the situation.

Grabbing the bag he dragged it towards the hole. Then with one final pull the body was thrown into the semi deep grave. A human tear mixed with rain as regret filled the man.
He wished it would have been possible to give his friend a proper burial.
But given that his family was gone.
And due to the body being that of a vampires.
He wouldn't be able to give it to police or anything.
