Marks thoughts raced as he walked at a slow human pace through the darkening streets of the town. His feet made his way to Phil's house, but his mind stayed back at the cabin. It recited Felix's words over and over again. Deciphering what they meant, deciding if it could be true.
It's like he'd broken you before you two even met
Mark's eyes started to form small tears that wouldn't never fall. They only clouded his vision of the emerging stars and the street lamps as they turned on. He hated this, he hated that in his many years of living, a twisted teenager threw everything upside down in a matter of years.
I've been through wars
I've been through torture of the worst kind
How could one look, from one human break me?
Mark has chalked up his chasing of Jack to pure curiosity. That Jack had seemed mysterious at the time. That he'd been the first one to ever speak to the weird emo guy at the back of class. Jack had been the first one to treat Mark with decency. Even that was something his own family lacked to give him. It was a sad excuse, but one he was going to force himself to live with. He really had no other explanation.
Before the vampire knew it, he stood at Phil's white door. A house he'd never been in but a house he'd seen Dan in numerous times before when Mark had been walking home. The vampire smirked slightly. Strangely, he missed the days where he attended school and sat through classes he'd been in a thousand times. He missed walking home in the rain, wondering what it was like to be cold. When he'd seen his classmates go home or go to friends houses.
Mark missed when he'd accidentally slam the front door out of pure strength.
The red head knocked softly on the door, and stepped back. This caused a mini dizzy spell. While Mark was stuck in his own thoughts, he'd forgotten about eating. He'd have to do it after speaking with Phil.
" M-Mark" a small, Northern voice asked timidly.
Mark once again got out of his own head to see Phil had answered the door. The British boy was much taller than Mark. However, it seemed the boy was trying to make himself look small, like he instinctively thought of himself as a lesser being. That was normal for younger vampires to do, but there was no reason for another human to do it.
" Hey Phil, can I come in?".
The dark haired man nodded silently and opened the door to let Mark pass. The vampire stepped in without needing to be greeted, that was always a myth anyway.
Phil closed and locked the door as he did always. The boy collected the excess long parts of his sleeves in his hands. The black wool jumper keeping him warm in the cold house.
" What is it?" The black haired man asked.
Before Mark could say anything Phil gestures for him to go upstairs.
" I don't like staying downstairs" Phil quietly explained.
The two boys climbed the creaking stair case silently. Phil lead the vampire to his room where they sat on his colourful bed spread. A rather large space in between the two.
" I wanted to ask how Dan was doing before-".
" He got arrested" Phil finished.
