Sitting at my desk with my friends in my first period class, we all chat about what we did during our holiday break. The only guy of our group, David, is paying extra attention to one of my best friends, Emily, so much so he doesn't realise he's sitting on the edge of my desk.

Emily is totally clueless as she rambles on to my other bestie Lizzie about all the clothes she got for Christmas. If she so much as looked up she would be able to see the love struck expression that's been on his face for years now.

"Mr. Payne! If you would stop drooling over Ms. Hawkins you would be able to tell that the warning bell has rung."

Completely startled by our teacher Mrs. Jones, David falls face first into the floor by Emily's feet. Scrambling to his feet at lightning speed, he is out the door with a red face.

Staring after his retreating figure for a moment, Lizzie grabs her backpack and leaves in a much more calm manor while Emily turns to sit properly in her seat feeling the heat of everybody's stare on her.

Not long after the last bell goes off and the morning announcements start everyone goes back to minding their own business.

Halfway through our history lesson there's a knock at the door before it is immediately opened by the schools principal.

"Mr. Buckman, what can I do for you?" Stepping to the side he brings someone forward that we couldn't see before.

"This is our new student Alexander Clark. He will be joining you class as of today. Please make him feel welcome." Without waiting for a reply, Mr. Buckman fleas the room leaving this mysterious man in the doorway.

"Well... Mr. Clark welcome to our history class. Is there anything you want to tell us about yourself?"

"No" is his flat reply. His over-it attitude only seems to add to the appeal he has over the female students. As if the dark washed jeans clinging to his thighs and leather jacket hugging his torso weren't enough, he also has a pair of shades over his face the same shade of black as his raven hair.

Pursing her lips, Mrs. Jones points to an empty seat one desk over from me and Emily. "Sit there and be sure to take off your sunglasses. They are not permitted inside the school."

Breathing out a irritated sigh, he reaches into his coat pocket and brings out a folded slip of paper between two fingers. Extending his arm towards her he waits as she reads over the note.

First widening her eyes in shock, Mrs. Jones looks back and forth between him and rereading it again. After about the third time she has read it Alexander speaks up, talking through clenched teeth.

"Yes, it's true. Now hand back the note and hurry up."

Scrambling to fold it up, Mrs. Jones slaps it into his outstretched palm, taking his hand and dragging him to his seat. Yanking his arm away, he readjusts his jacket before pulling back his chair and sitting.
