ELLIE's POV

I couldn't contain my anger as I walked out of the pavilion. I wanted to confront my grandfather right there and then but I didn't want to do it right in front of all the people around. I didn't have any idea of the identity of the man whom they set up for me to marry one day but I've never thought before that he's the grandson of the Valientes.

Now I understood why Señor Valiente looked displeased when he and his wife heard that I already have a boyfriend. I didn't give any meaning to his reaction back then because I didn't expect that he was the one who helped our family when our company was in the brink of bankruptcy long time ago. Well, I didn't know if I could call what he did as a 'help' because of what he asked as a payment.

I went back to the house and decided to wait for my grandfather to come home and talk to him once and for all. I need to tell him that I won't do whatever they're expecting me to do because I'm already taken! Even if I didn't have a boyfriend, I still would never comply with that fixed marriage!

I want to be the one to decide for myself and no one else's.

I didn't even go to my room to change my clothes first. I just stayed at the living room and waited for him until it was already 12 am. Even though I felt tired and sleepy, I didn't allow myself to fall asleep without talking to him first. It was already past midnight when my papy finally arrived.

"What happened to you, chérie? I tried looking for you everywhere at the party but I couldn't find you there. Why didn't you inform me that you're going to come home early? Didn't you promise to stay until the party is over?" He said the moment he entered the house and saw me sitting on the couch at the living room.

I stared at him for a couple of seconds with a serious face.

"We need to talk, papy" His eyebrows creased. He remained standing in front of me while towering over me.

"You look weird. Did something bad happen to you?" I shook my head and then heaved a deep sigh.

"I don't know how to begin this, papy, but I heard what you said to the Valientes and Carlos at the party. I thought we already talked about that?" There was a strange emotion that passed through his eyes upon hearing what I've just said.

"Ellie...I just want the best for you---your father and I only wanted the best for you that's why we agreed to Fernando's condition back then. Fernando didn't ask that condition to give us a hard time. He asked you as a payment because he wanted to make sure that our family would get tied together until the next generation. If his grandson marries you, both of our families would benefit from it. He never trusts anyone in the business world except me because we're known each other since we're still children" I remained silent while listening to him.

"I already told you about the pact, haven't I? I know that I already told you that I won't force you to comply to that deal we made in the past but I couldn't help but to hope that you would eventually change your mind about it in the future" I shook my head vigorously and then stood up furiously.
