ELLIE's POV

I was pacing back and forth while fiddling my fingers together tensely. My heart was beating fast and hard. I didn't know how many minutes have already passed by since the doctors went inside my papy's hospital suite. Tears started pouring from my eyes because of so much emotions. What if something bad happens to him? No! He's going to be alright!

It's been three months since he got in a coma and how many times that he almost went flat line but he still managed to make it. The doctors said that he's body was fighting to live and they're positive that he's going to make it.

But when I came to the hospital this morning to visit him, his heart monitor suddenly emitted an alarming sound as his life line went flat. They told me to wait outside while they attend to him but I couldn't help but to feel scared and worried about his condition. I prayed so hard for him to make it because I knew that we're not ready to lose him yet.

After a couple of minutes more, the doctor came out of the room.

"He's stable now, Ms. Novell" I sighed in relief and I felt like all the heavy load I was carrying immediately faded away.

"Thank you, doctor" He nodded and then left. I sat on the chair at the side of the hallway because I felt like my knees weakened because of what just happened.

I took my phone out from my bag and was about to dial my brother's number to tell him about what happened when my phone rang. It was Céline.

"Hello, Céline" I said.

"OMG, Ellie! Have you seen the news just now?" My eyebrows creased.

"What news?"

"Le centre de détention is burning right at this instant and there a lot of people who are trapped inside!" I gasped in shock. That was the name of the prison where Rex was in. My heart began beating rapidly because of mixed emotions such as fear, anxiety, worry and many more. I clutched my chest. I couldn't speak right away but one man came right away into my mind and that was Rex.

"N-No! What a-about Rex?" My whole body was trembling because of fear and panic attack.

"I am not sure. Let's just hope and pray that he's okay right now---" I didn't hear what she said anymore because I slowly put down my phone on my lap as I burst into tears. I felt so scared that something bad might happened to him.

I stood up and went inside my papy's room and when I made sure that he's really fine, I decided to go to the prison to check on Rex.

While I was driving, I kept on telling myself that he's safe and sound. But I couldn't control all the negative things that kept on bugging me. I was already crying but I tried to gather myself together and told myself that he's fine.

When I arrived there, there were a lot of police, ambulance, firemen and fire tracks in the area. They even prohibited civilians to get near the burning compound.

I almost lose consciousness when I saw how big the fire was, how the raging fire eats the whole vicinity. I shook my head a couple of times while crying, calling Rex's name in an above whisper voice.
