ELLIE's POV

My heart swelled with happiness while watching my children playing together with their father. How many times did I wish for this to happen? I couldn't remember already. All I could knew was every night before I go to sleep, I prayed so hard for Him to bring back Rex to us.

I could still remember that day when my children started asking about their father. Since they were babies, I was constantly showing them Rex's pictures and kept on telling them that he's their daddy. I didn't want them to forget about him because it was the least thing that I could do back then.

But when they're old enough to seek for a father's love and attention, that's when they started asking where he was. They kept on telling me to call him so that they could talk to him. I did everything in my power to answer their questions about Rex and hoping at the same time that one day, he would really come back and meet our children.

Now, seeing them playing happily together made my heart swelled with happiness. I could see the total happiness on my babies' faces. I felt complete now with just Rex's presence but I couldn't help but to feel doubtful and reluctant too.

I looked at Rex. He looked so contented, calm and happy. I couldn't see the rage and dangerous expression on his face that I saw this morning. I looked at the clock. It was already 3 pm. I heaved a sigh. I didn't know what he's thinking right now after all the things that I told him. He finally gave me a chance to explain tell him everything. At last, he finally listened to me. Thankfully, I finally had the chance to clear things up with him.

I could still remember our talk this morning at the veranda...

"Why do you keep on denying that your family didn't do anything to me five years ago? Are you really sure that they're not the ones who's behind all of what happened to me?" Rex asked with a voice above whisper. He asked those questions slowly and I could see the confusion on his face but I could hear the growing anger in him too. I looked right into his eyes and then held his hand.

"Listen to me, querido. I wanted to tell you this for so long now but I didn't have the chance to do so. I was expecting for you to be mad at me the moment you come back because of what I did to you in the past. But believe me, my family has nothing to do with what happened to you. I'm sure about that fact because we already have all the evidences pointing who's the one behind it all" I stopped and then caressed his cheek lovingly.

"Carlos was the one behind all that happened five years ago. His accomplice were Mason and two his comrades. Mason's comrades were police officers but got dismissed from their jobs because they did something terrible to one of the lady prisoners. They put them behind bars but for some reason, their case got dismissed after a year. Someone who's a very influential person helped them out and that person was Carlos. At first, we couldn't understand why Carlos helped them out of prison but according to our source, he wanted people that has a connection inside the police department because he was planning to use that connection in order to hide some of his illegal activities.

"Carlos managed to help them clear their names even though they really did the crime. Carlos is a terrible person, Avis. He appeared to be a nice person in front of everybody. He even owns a charity that helps orphans. When I first met him, he looked like a decent man and I didn't think that he's a bad person. He appeared to be nice and concern to everyone else but deep inside, he's actually the opposite" I bit my lower lip and then I heaved a sigh. I could sense that Rex was angry by the way he clenched his jaw. I swallowed hard and then continued.
