REX's POV

I didn't know how to react or what to say upon hearing his voice behind me. I gathered all the will power that I have and faced him. I turned around him slowly as I prepared a stoic face. I thought he already left the ranch after the party last night but it turned out that he didn't.

I intentionally didn't go back to the party after seeing him there because I didn't want to talk to him.

I saw a few missed calls from him on my phone last night and early this morning. I didn't hear it because I deliberately put my phone on a silent mode.

I always do that whenever I'm with Ellie because I hate being disturbed to especially from the likes of him.

But I honestly didn't know that he was calling me yesterday and even this early in the morning. But I was glad that I put my phone on a silent mode because hearing anything from him was the last thing I wanted. I didn't know why he was still here at the ranch but it wasn't that hard to guess that he stayed because he wanted to talk to me.

For all I know, he already knows that I didn't follow what he told me to do. Knowing him, he has eyes on me these past few months even though he wasn't physically here. He's rich and powerful man after all.

He told me before he left for Spain that he wanted me to complete my part of our deal the moment he returns here in France but instead of following his order, I did something else.

He was staring at me with his dangerous face that he never reveals to other people. In front of everyone, he seemed to be a kind man but the truth was, he's a cunning vile man who's hiding in sheep's clothing.

I didn't know why a man like him was being loved and looked up to by many people around him. Maybe because he's a rich and descent man who looked like he couldn't even hurt a fly. Well, that's what he portrays in front of other people and these people around him are being manipulated to by him without their knowledge.

He looked like someone who would never do anything bad to other people but boy they're wrong. You really can't judge a book by its cover, as they say.

"I was calling you yesterday but you weren't answering your phone. You're not deliberately ignoring me, right?" I released a harsh breathe and then met his death stare bravely.

Maybe this is the right time for me to talk to him about my withdrawal of our deal. Maybe it's time for me to have some backbone and stand up for myself for good...

Losing Ellie was the last thing that I would ever want so I must put my connection to him to an end!

Even if he wouldn't help me anymore into finding my sister, at least I still have my friends who promised to help me and currently doing something to find her.

At first, I accepted his offer to help me because I felt so hopeless back then. I was still grieving the death of my mother when he came into the picture and offered something to me. When he told me that he knew where my sister was, I felt like I found a new hope instantly and I agreed to his condition without thinking rationally.

I acted stupidly and hastily until I realized that I've made a mistake of involving myself to a person like him.

Now, it's useless for me to count on him anymore that he will fulfill his part of the deal because he's been asking me me to do something that I would never do to Ellie and her family in return of his help. I love Ellie so much to betray and hurt her like that.
