ELLIE's POV

Rex's expression instantly changed when he got a glimpse of the people who were coming out of the car. I could feel the sudden tension in his body because he was still hugging me.

I wasn't sure of what's on his mind but I could tell that he wasn't pleased of what he's seeing. His jaw was clenching tightly.

"Are you okay? You look weird" His eyes focused on me and his expression changed in an instant as his face softened.

"I'm fine, querida" He pecked me on the lips one more time before he pulled away from me.

"Thank you for coming here. Now, all my fatigue went away because of your presence but I think you should go back to your house. Your visitors already arrived"

"Are you sending me away?" I couldn't help but ask as I pursed my lips.

"Of course not, querida. If it's up to me, I would prefer for you to stay here with me but I know you have to go because your visitors already arrived. Don't worry, I'll make sure to finish my work earlier so that I will be able to see you off" I suddenly felt sad hearing that. I looked down.

I suddenly remembered that I would be going home this afternoon and would be leaving him here. I wanted to spend the rest of my time here with him rather than to be with other people but I knew I couldn't do that. Papy will not be happy if I'd don't attend the lunch.

He chuckled when he noticed my saddened face. He cupped my face and made me look at him.

"Don't be sad. As I've told you, I'll make time to visit you there. I'll do anything for us to be together. Even though I'll be missing you so much, we can't do anything about it. Your life is in Paris. You'll be starting school on Monday and your part-time job is in there too so I'll be the one to adjust for the both of us" He was telling those things but I could tell that he was sad too.

We just became a couple today but we'll be separated on the same day because I need to go home.

"But if you do that, you'll spend your salary just to visit me. I have an idea. I'll pay---" My eyes widened when he suddenly claimed my lips for a passionate but rough kiss.

"What was that kiss for?" I asked breathlessly when he let go of my lips.

"Because I know what you were about to say and I don't like that idea. I know I am not rich but I don't want you to pay anything for me. Don't worry, I'll get by. It's a big advantage that I'm staying at the worker's shelter here because I don't need to pay rent and bills. The only thing that I need to buy is my food. My salary here is higher compared to other workers in other ranches out there and I consider myself lucky because of that. Just spending for a train fare is okay because it's for you, querida. I'm willing to do anything just to be with you"

His eyes were full of mixed emotions while he's saying those things. His words made my heart swell and I couldn't hold back my smile. I hugged him tightly. Gosh! Why is he so sweet?!

"Thank you, querido. That means a lot to me. I know I don't need to worry about anything because I know you'd do what you said" He hugged me back and then kissed my forehead. After a minute or so, we pulled away from each other.

"Go on. They're already inside. You shouldn't make them wait" He said, referring to the visitors. I sighed.

"Okay. See you later" I waved my hand and turned my back to leave. I was about 5 meters away from him when I stopped on my tracks and faced him again.
