ELLIE's POV

The message alert tone of my phone woke me up. I stretched my arms above my head and purred sleepily. I opened my eyes and reached for my phone on the bedside table. There was a message and I couldn't help but smile when I saw that it was from Rex.

It's been 1 month and 3 weeks since the school started and it's been that long since I last saw Rex too. He was scheduled to come visit me here in Paris last week but a problem suddenly happened at the ranch that caused him to cancel his trip.

I didn't know the exact detail because neither my grandfather nor Rex told me specific detail about it.

Rex just told me that some of our animals at the farm suddenly fell sick which caused 10 of them to die. He couldn't leave the ranch like that so he just postponed his trip for next month again.

Last month, we planned for him to come visit me for the first time but he couldn't come because my grandfather asked him to accompany him somewhere and he couldn't say no because apparently, it was important. And now, it happened again for the second time and it's making me feel frustrated.

I missed him so much already and even though we talk or text everyday, it's not enough. It's almost two months since we last saw each other and I began to feel the perks of being in a long distance relationship. I thought it would be okay because we called communicate using our phones but it wasn't.

Being with him personally is a lot different than just talking to him on the phone.

I opened his message and I felt giddy like a kid. A smile broke across my face.

Bonjour, querida. How's your sleep? I hope you dreamt about me because you were in my dream last night. I miss you so much.

I sat upright and leaned against the oversized headboard. I excitedly replied to his message.

Bonjour, my querido. You're being corny again but you made me smile. Too bad I didn't dream about you because I miss you so much too.

I sent the message and then got off the bed. It was already 7 am and I needed to get up for school. After I made my bed, I went directly to the washroom and did my morning routine.

After I took a bath and got dressed, I took the things that I needed for school and my phone then went downstairs. Rex didn't have a reply yet and that made me irritated. What's he doing? It's been almost one hour already...

I went to the dining area to eat my breakfast.

"Good morning, Mila. Where are mom and Angela?" I asked her. She's our head maid and she's been working for us for more than twenty years already.

"Good morning too, Ellie. Your mother just left about 10 minutes ago while Angela is still asleep"

"Really? Mom didn't even wait for me to come down" She smiled as she put down the pitcher of juice on the table.

"She told me that she needed to be at the office early because she has an important visitor. Don't worry about her. She'll be home earlier today" I sat on the chair.
