ELLIE's POV
When my grandfather went to his study room with Rex, I set up the dining table before I went to my children's room upstairs to wake them up for dinner.
"Mes chéris, wake up. It's already dinner time" I cooed as I sat on the edge of the bed. I gently shook their shoulders but they both groaned irritably and continued sleeping. I chuckled amusedly. They looked so adorable with their furrowed foreheads like that. I looked at the clock. It's already 7:12 pm.
Normally, our dinner time is 7 pm.
"I made your favorite cassoulet. It's been a while since I've cooked one for the two of you, right? C'mon, get up and let's go downstairs to eat" I said gently while gazing at them lovingly.
My daughter was sleeping while hugging her favorite teddy bear while my son has his favorite Voltes V robot in his hand. I couldn't help but to smile while shaking my head.
I gave these toys to them when they were still babies and until now, they still couldn't get rid of them even if they're already worn out. I could still remember that time when I asked them to put all their toys that they didn't need anymore in a big box so that we could donate at the orphanage. They gave all their old toys but they couldn't let go of those particular ones.
"I'm still sleepy, mommy" Rexus whined sleepily while rubbing his eyes. Avellie purred and then stretched her hands above her head while yawning.
"Me too, mommy. I'm still sleepy" she parroted her brother. Their eyes were still close. I shook my head again. I touched their cheeks and I couldn't help but to feel an overwhelming happiness. I arrived at the ranch last night and I was with them the entire time until today but I felt like I still miss them so much. Maybe because it's been a while since I came to visit them.
A smile formed my lips. They're really my sunshine and they make me happy all the time.
They're my inspiration and they served as my strength since they were still inside my womb.
"I know, mes chéris, but it's already time to eat our dinner. Aren't you hungry yet? You can continue sleeping after you dinner so get up now" they opened their eyes and then sat up. They both looked really sleepy. Avellie looked like she was about to cry.
This is why I don't allow them to sleep before dinner time because it's hard to wake them up especially Avellie.
She's always like that whenever her sleep is interrupted. She becomes grumpy. I could still remember when they were still babies. Avellie would cry so much everytime her sleep was interrupted.
"Can I just sleep more instead, mommy? I don't want to eat dinner. I'll eat breakfast tomorrow instead" Avellie said.
"No can do, ma chérie. You know that it's bad to skip a meal" she pouted.
"Fine. If you don't want to get out of bed, I'll tell your daddy that you don't want to eat dinner together with him. He will get disappointed for sure. Remember, this is your first time to eat with him but it looks like you don't want to" their eyes instantly widened upon hearing about their daddy.
