ELLIE's POV

I didn't know what happened to me. I couldn't move my feet for a reason even though I wanted nothing than to go away from there as soon as possible. I couldn't get my eyes off of them. I remained on my spot like a statue who's unable to move at all.

I watched Rex and Serena while hugging each other. Serena's face was burrowed against Rex's chest while Rex's arms were wrapped around her. His hand was patting Serena's back. Seeing them in such position made my chest tightened painfully.

"Querida..." His voice got me out of my trance-like state upon hearing Rex's voice. He's staring at my direction. Serena lifted her face from his chest and then turned her head to look at me. Irritation instantly filled her face the moment she saw me.

Rex automatically unwrapped his arms around her and was about to stride his way towards me when I finally found my strength. I quickly turned my back on them and walked away from there like a ghost was chasing after me.

"Querida, wait!" I looked back and saw Rex following behind me. I was about to stop on my tracks when I heard Serena calling for him. I gritted my teeth and ran towards the house, wanting to escape the two of them.

"Bonjour, chérie. Where have you been? You woke up early today. What happened?" My papy asked the moment I entered the main door. He was about to open the door but I opened it from the outside before he could even touch it. I almost slammed the door to his face.

"Nothing important, papy. Where are you going?" I asked, trying to divert the topic. He stared at me intently before he answered.

"I'm just going to the spa with my friend. He's the one I mentioned to you before"

"It's good that you decided to go out and relax" I answered and then kissed his cheeks.

"Enjoy your day, papy" I was about to walk away from him when he spoke.

"Are you okay? You look weird today" I faked a smile even though I felt like my heart was about to tear apart for a reason I couldn't accept.

"Don't worry about me, papy. I'm fine. You should go now. Maybe your friend is already waiting for you. Enjoy" I said and then strode my way to the stairs. When I reached my room, I sat on my bed while staring into space.

I gingerly touched the part of my chest where the heart was located. Just remembering the scene I saw a while ago was making my heart thumped painfully. I didn't want to admit it but I felt hurt. Rex said that he likes me and was willing to court me. Even though I couldn't admit yesterday, I felt happy about it.

But not even 24 hours have passed after he said that to me and I already caught him hugging another girl in his arms. I laughed humorlessly and then laid on my bed. I closed my eyes and tried my best not to think about him but the scene while he was hugging Serena kept on replaying in my head. My fists tightened.
