Luke?

"Jessy? What are you doing?"
Luke had that tone in his voice like he always did when he was mad. I looked at Sam, feeling helpless.
"She's partying with me, obviously," Sam countered, "I can better ask you what you're doing here, because I don't remember inviting you here, cheating asshole."

"Listen Jess, I know that was a mistake. I love you and you know that." Luke said and I sighed while tightening my grip on Sam's hand.
"Oh, that was a mistake? I can only remember you saying sorry one time. So you're not that sorry, are you?" I spat, livid at my ex.
Luke grabbed my hand. "Look, I want to talk, but not with Sam near us."
"Well, I don't want to talk," I yanked my hand out of his, "Because I found out some secrets that you should've told me. Now I had to hear from others that you're the reason that Sam's sister is in a bad place, all because you cheated on her!"
I was trying really hard to stay calm, but I failed.
"I know that you know that, and who told you? They shouldn't have." Luke said and I responded by saying,
"It doesn't matter who told me. What matters is that you are a lying, cheating asshole! So bye Luke, and don't you ever dare to come back!"

"You heard her." Sam said when Luke showed no signs of backing off and he tried to push my ex-boyfriend away. That was a wrong choice, because Luke then punched Sam in the face and I heard something crack.
"You broke his nose!" I yelled and by then, all hell broke loose.
Even in my drunken state, I managed to jump on Luke, who was hovering over Sam, ready to punch him again. I grabbed Luke's blond hair and pulled him off Sam.
But Sam stood up and pushed Luke against the wall. He kicked him in the stomach and I heard Luke groan.
This was going to get out of hand and I tried to stand between the two guys, who were fighting like it was a matter of life and death.

"Jess, just leave, I can handle this fucker." Sam panted and I backed off, yelling for help. Alyssa came walking up tome, making her way through the crowd that had formed around us. Nobody was doing anything, except encouraging Luke and Sam to fight. Fight, fight, fight was all I could hear.
"Are you okay?" my best friend asked me, at which I nodded.
"But I don't want to leave the two of them alone, because I swear, this is going to end up in one of them ending in the hospital!"
She nodded and at that moment Mila came rushing over to us. I was so glad she was here. She was the resident bad-ass of the three of us.
"Okay, explain what the hell is happening here." she said the moment she saw what was going on.
"Or not." She said and walked up to the two of them. With a strength I didn't know she had, she yanked the two guys up and pulled them apart.
"Okay, the show is over!" she yelled, "Everybody leave, now!"
Like magic, everyone listened to her and she pushed Sam and Luke onto the stairs. With the help of Alyssa we made sure everyone had left.
Mila shut the door and turned towards them.

"You," she ordered Sam, "On the first step, and Luke on the fourth. And don't you dare lay a finger on each other. Understood?"
They both nodded, but it was clear they weren't done yet. They both clenched their fists, Sam holding his nose with one.
Mila sent Alyssa to grab an ice pack and she handed it to him. I stood next to Mila, grateful to have such a tough friend.
"I can handle this, but I want you to stay," she told me,
"So, gentlemen, that isn't fun anymore, is it? Fighting over a girl, who happens to be my very best friend. Now, we're going to try and handle this as adults. So, Sam, tell your side of the story."
Seeing that Luke opened his mouth, Mila shut him up.
"You zip it, little boy. I didn't ask you anything."
Intimitated by Mila, Luke made the wise decision to shut his mouth and Sam explained his side of the story. Then Luke did the sam and Mila sighed.

"Yeah, that wasn't so smart of you. Do you know what happens with boys who cheat on my best friend?"
Luke shook his head, "I don't think I wanna know."
"You don't," Mila scowled, "So get out of here. Right now. This is not your party and you were not invited either."
Luke made the wise decision not to object and slammed the door behind him. Sam grinned.
"Hey, are you okay? Your nose looks pretty bad." Mila said and Sam tried to smile.
"It hurts a lot."

"We'll get you to a doctor. I'll make sure everybody gets out of your house. There are probably still some couples upstairs doing you-know-what." she chuckled and disappeared for a moment. When she came back, she had a half-confident, half-disgusted look on her face.
"The things I had to see... Well, get up, and since I'm the only one here sober and old enough to drive I'll do that. Let's go."
I let Sam hold onto me and he tossed his car keys to Mila.
"You have a car too?" I asked him in surprise and he nodded.
"I'm eighteen, remember? And my parents wanted me to have a car, but I prefer my motorcycle."

The three of us walked over to the garage and when I saw a shining silver Porsche, Mila and I gasped in sync.
"No way..."
Sam had told me before that his parents had money, which hadn't surprised me. A normal eighteen year old couldn't afford a motorcycle, and certainly not a Porsche!

We got into the car and Mila drove at full speed. She was clearly happy to drive such a cool car and let Sam know that on the regular. In a minute or ten we arrived at the ER. After an X-Ray, the doctor told us that Sam's nose was indeed broken. That made me even angrier at Luke. What he did was wrong, but now having sobered up, I realised I wanted to talk it out with him. Put an end to this. He had caused me enough pain, and I needed to close this chapter. Even though I had just told Luke I didn't want to. But I wanted to do it without Mila, Sam, or any other company.

"Okay young man, you can go." the nurse said after he gave Sam some painkillers. Apparently I had zoned out and I smiled at Sam. The three of us drove back to Sam's house. When Sam and I had said goodbye for the evening, I awkwardly stood in the doorway, waiting for him to do or say something.
"Thanks for everything." he smiled and kissed me again, this time very carefully.

"See you at school." I said and stepped out of the doorway.

The last thing I heard before I shut the car door was Sam saying, "Don't let anyone like Luke ever hurt you again, please."
