Chapter Twenty-Two: Christmas with the Fockers

Rachel smiled as she settled down in front of the television with her niece and nephew, she had been back in Miami for a few days since she, Cristiano and Junior were spending Christmas with her parents.

The couple were joined by her brother, his wife and their children and his wife’s parents on Focker Island a few days after Cristiano had played the last game of the season.

Rachel was home alone with the children since Roz, Pam and Dina were doing some last minute Christmas shopping while Bernie, Greg, Cristiano and Jack were out of the house as well, through Rachel wasn’t sure where they had gone.

“Auntie Rachel… what’s wrong with your tummy?” Samantha asked as she looked at the brunette’s stomach, which was now carrying a small bump; Rachel smiled at her since she was now eleven weeks pregnant and her bump was starting to show because she was carrying twins.

“Nothing’s wrong Sammy... I’m having a baby,” Rachel told the six year old, who looked at her confused for a second then she smiled and nodded as if understanding what her aunt had told her.

Rachel gently shifted Junior on her lap so she could get comfortable; Henry also looked at his Aunt as he stood and looked at her belly confused.

“Auntie Rachel where do babies come from?” he asked curiously making Rachel’s eyes widen before she grinned; the twins looked at Rachel excited as she looked down at them as she thought about her answer. “

Ask your dad when he comes back,” Rachel said grinning back the twins nod before they turned their attention back to the television; she chuckled softly knowing that Greg was going to panic when the twins asked him that.

Cristiano looked at his girlfriend relieved as he returned from the day out that her father had organised; Rachel chuckled as he collapsed into the seat next to her in the kitchen as her brother started to prepare Christmas Eve Dinner.

“Did you have fun?” the brunette asked making Cristiano groan at her softly, Rachel smiled and kissed his lips; she was curious about what he had been doing while he was out and she knew her father was a little excited about him being in the family home.

“He took me to every single local shop just so he could show me off,” Cristiano said making Rachel laugh, she grinned at her boyfriend knowing that it was something that her father would do; Bernie enjoyed being able to brag about his family.

“Don’t you have anything better to do?” Greg asked his sister as he leant against the counter and glared at her, he didn't want to start dinner if she was watching him; she grinned at him innocently as she looked at him.

“Nope besides mum wants me to make sure that you don’t burn dinner,” Rachel informed him making Greg frown at her; Cristiano raised his eyebrow in interest about what had been said, he knew that it would be an embarrassing story.

“It happened once,” Greg muttered making Rachel grin before she turned to Cristiano and explained what had happened Thanksgiving last year when Greg had proceeded to burn the dinner and set fire to most of the kitchen.

“It was an accident,” Greg began to say when he say the grin from Cristiano before Rachel grinned and nodded her head at the oven; she couldn't believe that her brother had managed to do it again.

“Erm Greg... you did it again,” Rachel said making her brother frown at her before he turned and looked at the oven which now had smoke rising from it; Cristiano chuckled wondering how her brother had managed that when he had only just started to cook.

“Crap,” Greg said just as the smoke alarm went off, Cristiano looked at Rachel who shrugged as they watched Greg run about the kitchen before the footballer got up to help him with the smoke.

“Greg’s burnt dinner!” Rachel called making her parents sigh as they entered the kitchen; Roz shook her head as she sat next to her daughter while Bernie helped Greg and Cristiano by fanning the smoke out of the way.

“So take-away anyone?” Dina said as she picked up the kitchen phone, making Roz and Bernie nod at her; they were surprised that their son was that bad of a cook since they were both good at it.

Cristiano couldn't help but watch his girlfriend’s family, it made him think of the family that he was starting with the brunette; he couldn't wait and he knew that this time next year the twins would be with them.

“So how is the baby?” Dina asked Rachel, making Cristiano look at the older woman who was sat across from them; taking her hand the football squeezed it, they hadn't told anyone that they were having twins having decided to wait until the family was all together.

“Babies... we’re having Twins,” Cristiano said making everyone stop what they were doing, they stared at the couple; no one had been expecting that sort of announcement.

“Twins?” Roz asked as she looked at Bernie, she wasn’t sure that she had heard the footballer right; she turned her attention to her daughter, who nodded making Roz smile while Bernie looked like he was about to burst with excitement.

It was at that moment that the doorbell rang, Roz quickly excused herself while the rest of the family congratulated the couple; it was becoming clear that maybe twins ran in the family since Greg and Pamela also had a set.

“Hello everybody,” Amber said walking into the dining room making Rachel stiffen as she looked at her cousin as she entered the room with Evan and Roz; her mother looked far from pleased that the red head had turned up on Christmas eve like this.

Amber ignored all the dirty looks that she got as she made herself at home and took a seat at the dining table with Evan, Roz rolled her eyes annoyed before she moved to sit down.

“So how is everyone? Me and Evan have some exciting news... we’re engaged,” Amber said showing off the ring that was sat on her finger as if no one had heard about their engagement before; she shot a triumphant look at Rachel.

Cristiano squeezed Rachel’s hand as he tried to ignore the flinch that she made knowing that this wasn’t easy for her; he gently kissed Rachel’s neck making Amber purse her lips at the attention that Rachel was receiving from the footballer.

“So we were thinking of having the wedding on the 12th of April,” Amber said as she continued trying to get under her cousin’s skin, she wanted to hurt Rachel and she knew that this would do it; Roz looked at her husband knowing what her niece was trying to do.

Amber was trying to get arise from Rachel, which didn’t seem to be working since Cristiano was distracting her for which Roz was thankful for; she knew that this couldn't be easy for Rachel especially since Evan had never proposed to her and they had been together for four years.

Evan wasn’t listening to what his fiancée was saying, his eyes were focused on Rachel; he felt jealous because of the attention that the footballer was giving her and he couldn't believe that she wasn’t interested in him anymore.
