Mugman's POV
8 years later....
We stared at our old house. The one we used to live in with Elder Kettle. It was broken and torn down. No one lived it in anymore, since Elder Kettle died years ago. The sun lit up the bright blue sky, and the wind whistled past us, a sign that autumn was near.
It was around this time of year when my brother and I freed our souls from the Devil. That's when the real adventure began. It was a mix of good and bad memories.
I went back to the casino to turn two crooks into model citizens, and everything changed. I betrayed my home in the name of a promise. I made a new home for myself, which was targeted by a vile villain. Conflicts arose both within my new family and outside with my old one. Yet, a 600 year old curse was finally broken, and both of my families were reunited, including a new addition: the same person who was once our enemy. A separate villain awoke, made of pure hatred, and tried to divide us, in fact, it nearly killed me. But, all of those challenges made us stronger, bringing us closer than ever. Finally, the day came where we had to fight for our home, and a grave sacrifice was made to save us all. That sacrifice will always be remembered and cherished in our hearts. He is still our family.
"Hey, it's five. We should head back to the casino now," Cuphead woke me from my thoughts.
I lifted my head,"Okay."
We turned around and started to walk home. Now look at us. My brother is 18 and I'm 16. When our adventure started, we were 10 and 8. The years truly have passed, but, they will always be remembered in my heart.
"Its family night, remember?" Cup said. "Dad said we could put on a show tonight. It's about time!"
I smiled,"You know how overprotective they are. Besides, you kept messing up on that one move for at least a year. So I think this is the best time to show off our skills in front of an audience."
Cup smirked,"You're just jealous that you don't get to run the bar when Dad isn't around."
I rolled my eyes, then waved at a child who was fishing by the bridge. Once we made it to Isle 2, I teasingly punched Cup in the shoulder and said,"Race ya!"
I popped out the wheels to my wheelie shoes and skated through town, trying to out-skate my brother. I glanced behind me to see that he did the same thing.
"Get back here, Mug!" He laughed, chasing me.
I laughed, passing the old produce stand that I once broke to stop my brother from getting to me.
Finally we reached the casino, formerly known as "The Devil's Casino". Dad had it renamed, so the sign now read "Inkwell's Casino & Bar". Dad thought it had a better ring to it. I have to agree; It does make it seem more welcoming.
Inside, was a swarm of people young and old. We slipped past them and made it to the bar.
King Dice raised a brow at us,"You're late."
"Sorry, Dad," I apologized.
He smiled calmly,"Just get in your uniforms and--where's Cup?"
I looked around and saw Cup talking to the Devil, who was trying counting profits on his throne.
"So, Dad," Cup began. "You said we could do our performance tonight."
"I did say that, didn't I?" The Devil nodded.
"So...can we do it now?" Cup grinned.
The Devil chuckled,"At seven I said. Seven."
"Okay, fine," Cup huffed. "Can't blame a guy for trying!"
"C'mon, Cuphead!" I told him, and skated into the back room, with him close behind.
The two of us quickly got changed into our waiter uniforms. Mine was blue, of course, with a light blue heart printed on the back of my vest. Cup's was the same, except red with a shamrock.
We left the room and did our job. Cup and I delivered drinks to anyone who wanted some, while keeping an eye out for cheaters. A couple of times, I found someone hiding an ace our taking more money then they were supposed to, so I called Cup over and he handled it pretty well.
Cup and I live here now, we have been for years. We share a room upstairs, where most of our living space is. Before anyone asks, the Devil and King Dice adopted both of us when Elder Kettle passed away. They were our fathers, and frankly, I couldn't be happier. This is my family.
Third Person's POV
It was 7. The show was going to start. Cuphead and Mugman excitedly went back stage to get ready.
King Dice and the Devil waited patiently for their foster sons. Dev took King Dice's hand and kissed it softly.
"Dev," Dice smiled.
The Devil smiled back,"What'd you think? Would Mike have liked this place?"
"I think he would."
The Devil nodded, deep in thought. There was a pained expression on his face.
Dice noticed this,"Hun? What's wrong?"
Dev shook his head,"I'm fine, babe. It's just this scar I have suddenly hurts again."
"A scar? Let me see," King Dice said.
The Devil removed his hand from his side, and revealed a thin scar. The Devil covered it again.
"Where'd you get it from?" Dice asked, concerned.
"Back when we were fighting-nevermind."
Dice pursed his lips, but didn't pursue the topic. Then he smirked,"Devy~! Want me to get the brush~?"
He smiled innocently,"Yes, please."
King Dice took out a hairbrush and brushed his husband's fur. The Devil purred, lovingly.
Still cute... King Dice thought.
Then, the crowd applauded when Cup and Mug appeared on stage. The duo got into position, and did their practiced performance.
[Don't judge me.]
As, King Dice and the Devil watched, they smiled like proud parents, remembering how far they've come. They are a family.
They really have come a long way.
That's why I want you to get them.
Yes, sir.
