Stuck in the middle.

Chapter 10

"Hey where have you been all day?" asks Julia when I sit down at our table.
"Oh, I just decided to relax in the cabin. I didn't get much sleep last night," I lie.
"Oh okay," says Bell in Beth in sync.
After lunch we all head down to the field to tie-die white shirts.
"Where's Jacob," Julia asks.
"I don't know," I say.
"How do you not know. You guys are always together," she replies.
"Ya, well things change," I say then I walk away.
I didn't mean to be rude it was just that bring up Jacob right now made me want to cry. I spend the rest of the day avoiding as much human contact as I can. After dinner Bell, Beth, and Julia disappear. When they finally get back to the cabin we all go straight to bed. I fall right to sleep.
Awhile later someone shakes my shoulder and I wake up. Standing at my bed is Jacob.
"Jacob, what are you doing here?" I ask.
"I need to talk to you. This was the only way I could talk without you running away," he says.
"Jacob," I start, but he interrupts me.
"I love you Emily. I know you don't want to deal with it when we leave, but that's life. We can't just ignore each other, it will do no good. You keeping your distance from me in no way lessons my affection for you. So this whole staying away from each other thing is never going to work. We need to enjoy the time we have not waste it," he says.
I realize he is right and that I just wasted a whole day if our time together. He looks at me with pleading eyes. I get out of bed so I am starring right at him. I realize we are the only two in the cabin.
"Please Emily," he begs.
I answer him by pulling him to me and kissing him hard. It takes him a moment, but then he passionately kisses me back. He pushes me back against the wall without braking the kiss. I slide my legs around his waist so he is holding me up. I tighten my grip around him, trying to pull him closer to me. After awhile he pulls away. I unwrap my legs and stand, looking up at him.
"It's getting late and I bet your cabin mates want to come inside. Goodnight," he says.
He kisses me softly and walks out the door. I get in bed and fall right back to sleep.
