Stuck in the middle.

Chapter 29

When I get to spanish I take my seat next to Jacob.

"Hey," he says.

"Hi," I reply.

Class begins and he turns away from me. We end up taking a practice quiz for a test on Monday. We pass our tests to our partner and the teacher tells us the answers so we can correct them. I have Jacob's and he has mine. Wow he is really good at this! He got 100%. I hand him back his test and he hands me mine. I didn't do very well.... I flip it over and on the back is a number. Jacob wrote his number on the back of my paper. The bell rings and I grab my stuff and head outside. I see Mason at his car and head over to him.

"Hey," I say when I get there.

My foot hits something in the road and I trip and drop everything in my hands. Mason helps me pick up all my papers. Then he says,"Are you..." He stops talking in the middle if his sentence.

"What's wrong?" I ask lifting my head to look at him. He is looking at the back of my spanish pre-test.

"What is this," he says pointing to the number on the page.

"Oh um Jacob wrote his number on the back of my paper," I stutter.

"What!" he yells.

"It's nothing. It's just a number."

"Just a number now but."

"But what!" I'm starting to get angry.

"We were perfectly fine then this guy shows up and you suddenly have to think about if you want to be with me or not! I thought you loved me!"

"I told you I have to think about how I feel."

"But why?"

"Because I might have feelings for him too."

"So are we braking up?" he asks.

"I guess so."

"I don't understand why I'm not good enough for you."

"Not good enough for you!" Okay now I am really mad.

"That's what it sounds like!" he yells.

"Take me home," I say.

"What?" he questions.

"Take me home, now!" I yell.

I grab my papers out of his hand and get in the car. He has to take me home because he drove me here.

When we get to my house I jump out of the car. He grabs my wrist and says,"Wait."

I pull my wrist away and run inside.
