4 ∆ wasted

Nearly half of the bottle had gone when I stood up from the bench, suddenly feeling a quite unfamiliar feeling; desire of interaction. Actual human interaction.

So I started wandering around the dark quiet park feeling lonely; I couldn't be the only one there, surely there was someone else, right?

George's P.O.V.

After the bleeding kid Ross knocked down awkwardly left, we shrugged it off and bought whatever shit Hann needed and then headed back to where we first planned to go -- the park. It was dark and quiet and actually quite nice for a change. We got a bit tired of always getting stoned on Matt's basement.

Walking towards the gates, our path dimly lit, Hann started speaking.

''Why did you ask her to join us?''

''She seemed nice.'' Ross shrugged.

''She was weird,'' Matt said. ''and you don't even know her fucking name. And she knows us! She might be a crazed fan or whatever.''

''If she were a crazed fan she wouldn't run away from us twice.'' Hann pointed out.

''Maybe she was 'having an overload of feels', as those weird kids say.'' Matt mocked, which caused us to laugh, but only slightly.

We spent the rest of the walk in a pleasant silence, either too tired or too lazy, or maybe too stoned to talk or think of conversation at all.

Once we reached the park, we quickly found a nice spot to lay and enjoy the peace; it was a clearing in between the density of trees, with a small font and a couple of benches. Matt and Hann sat on the floor, leaning on the concrete of the font, while Ross and I sat across from them, on one of the benches.

We just sat still for a while, feeling the silence, the peace, for once; and then Matt pulled one of the joints from his pocket, and I got the cognac.

Anna's P.O.V.

Stumbling through the trees I started hearing voices. Familiar voices, and then laughter, and then continued silence, before the random laughter reappeared.

''Oh, god, oh, shit,'' I muttered as I stepped into the clearing, finding the four guys for the third time that day. ''it's you!''

''It's us!'' Ross said, standing up and walking towards me. ''It's you! The bleeding kid I knocked down!''

''That's me!'' I smiled as he hugged me, patting my back. I could smell alcohol in him, which meant that wasn't his usual self.

''You said those weren't for you,'' He said once he pulled away, looking down at the bag in my right hand and the half empty bottle of wine in the other. ''liar liar, pants on fire...''

''They weren't, I swear,'' I made a puppy face. ''I just felt like I should, you know? I was feeling dumb and there wasn't anything exactly fantastic for me to do at home so I started drinking... and I know I'll get beat up later but I couldn't care less at this moment.''

We laughed while the others just stared at us, George and Hann seemed amused, while Matthew just seemed pissed off.

''Hi guys.'' I smiled at them, waving foolishly. The two boys smiled and greeted me happily, while Matthew grumbled something and turned away. ''What was that?''

''You came, after all.'' He repeated, louder this time, seeming annoyed.

''Yeah I did, it was an accident though,'' I nodded to myself. ''do you want me to go?''

He scoffed, ''Please''.

I stared at him for a little while, as he brought the cigarette he held in between his index and middle finger to his lips, inhaled the smoke, kept it inside for a few seconds and then exhaled, not even once landing his eyes on me.

''Uh, I,'' I mumbled, waking up from my trance. ''I'll be going, then.'' I looked up at Ross, forcing a smile, and turned around. ''Nice meeting you lot.'' I whispered more to myself than to anyone.

''Hey,'' George's voice stopped me from walking and turn around to look at his face. ''you never said your name.''

''Anna.''

''It's a pretty name,'' Hann grinned. ''suits your face.''

I blushed as I stared at him, wondering if that was really what he had said. And then Matthew laughed, making me sure he was mocking me.

''Twat.'' I mumbled under my breath as I stormed off, feeling the alcohol nearly drain from my body.

''Matt, stop being an idiot,'' Ross said as I walked away. I heard footsteps coming after me and then he held my wrist. ''Anna! We want you to stay, you're staying, please.'' He said hurriedly, pulling me back to where we were before.

I would've argued, but I figured I shouldn't. That was the wake up call that I should accept that I've been given this opportunity and that I shouldn't let it go again.

Matthew's face and laughter nearly made sobriety come back. I never said it had.
