          Matthew's P.O.V.

''I'm going to take a shower.'' Anna muttered a while after she turned away from me, avoiding the questions I had made.

I nodded and kissed her forehead before she skipped off to the bathroom and I was left alone in her bedroom.

I sat up on the bed and got dressed again. I looked around, trying to, somehow, understand more of Anna just by inspecting her room. I decided that I'd get answers for my questions, whether she wanted to give them or not.

Standing up, my eyes skimmed the room; barely any doors or drawers. It was as minimalist as it could be. The only places she could've hidden anything was on the shelves and drawers of the bunk's desk, so I went to look over them. The shelves had barely anything, besides gum, some white sheets, a couple of pens and mugs. The drawers were different, though.

Through the two out of three I firstly looked in, there was nothing much; some CD's, books, school stuff, money, packs of cigarettes and condoms. On the third one, I found more CD's, but on simple paper wrappings, with names and numbers handwritten over.

'demos 09' was the first one. Underneath that one, demos 10, covers 09/12, demos 11/12, demos 13, covers 13.  And then a small notebook. Black cover with a white rectangle over it -- The 1975's, our logo.

I opened the book; it seemed like a diary. The first page was blank, but the second one, numbered, read in a messy and small handwriting:

''dear peter, please help me. nadia left with jeremy today. i'm alone, peter, i need company. it's cold, and dark, and i feel empty. come back, will you?

please.

i beg you.''

I read onto the next page.

''this is so stupid. i can't pretend i am feeling sad and alone when i am in reality feeling nothing but emptiness. true emptiness. i don't seem to care if my siblings are gone and left me with satan, or if you don't care about me. or if i am in the hospital again. i just don't care.''

Page 4.

''i am like an animal in need to be put to sleep.''

5.

''sadness? loneliness?

honestly

what is that?

i am more familiarized with emptiness

i don't care.

i    don't    care.''

6.

''i am going to be taken home today. i don't want to because

when you're awake on your own, shadows turn into ghosts

home becomes what you're scared of the most

but shadows turning to ghosts is what you're scared of the most.''

7.

''stick around to watch this town fall down on to its knees.''

8.

''friends don't stick around

they go which way the wind blows

you're never safe and sound

till all the doors are closed.''

9.

''call off the searches coming home.

it's paranoia in your veins.''

Emptiness on page 10. And 11. And 12, 13, 14, 15.

I stopped turning empty pages when I heard the shower stop running. I slipped all the CD's and the notebook into my pockets and stood up quickly after closing the drawer again.

''Matthew?'' Anna faintly called from the bathroom.

''Uh, yeah?''

''Is everything alright?''

''Yes, yes. I just got a text from George asking where I am because- uh, I have to get back to the studio.''

''Oh,'' She stepped into the room wrapped in a blue towel and with her half green hair tied up in a bun on top of her head. ''alright, then.''

''You wanna join us again?'' I smiled, walking over to her.

She smiled too, but shook her head. ''Thanks, but I'm tired. I'm just going to get some sleep now.''

''Alright.'' I nodded, pressing my lips against hers, quickly moving to her neck. ''Get dressed quickly, we don't want a breeze passing through to make you catch a cold.'' I whispered against her skin.

Anna giggled lightly, pulling back. ''Okay, father.''

I grinned, kissing her again. ''Also, make sure to eat something. Seriously. You're gonna faint or something if you don't eat.''

''Okay, okay, okay.'' She frowned and pushed me backwards lightly as I chuckled.

''Don't be mad, babe.''

''I'm not mad.'' She narrowed her eyes.

''Yeah, okay.'' My grin widened.

''I'm not.'' She chuckled, nudging me again. ''Shouldn't you get going?''

''Kicking me out, are we?''

''Yes, we are. Now leave Matthew because I gotta get dressed.''

''It's not like I haven't seen any of this before.'' I said, looking down at her skinny body covered by the towel, and then I noticed her slippers. ''Nice shoes.''

She laughed, ''Yeah, thank you. Now go, they're gonna be mad you're late again.''

I smiled, wrapping my arms around her shoulders and kissing her forehead.

''Take care.''
