7 ∆ failed mission

Days have passed and it was still impossible to believe what happened that night. I did not meet my favourite band; I did not drink with them; I am not hated by the lead singer. But I sure was beaten up by my brother when I got home; cheers.

Well I didn't mind, though. I was happy. For the first time in ages, happy.

My long lost friend Alex had come back. One morning he just decided to pop up at school and act like nothing ever happened; like he had not left me, like I wasn't left alone for 4 years after our best friend died, like he didn't even bother to keep contact. I had all the reasons to be mad, but I wasn't. I loved him and having him back next to me was the best thing I could've asked for.

Apart from him coming back, nothing  else happened. I couldn't, actually, stop thinking about Friday.

And from all I gathered from Matt's behavior towards me, it was clear that he despised my guts and hated the idea of me hanging out with them (which was, honestly, comprehensible). So I decided I'd leave them alone.

I wondered why he did hate me, though. I hadn't done anything wrong, have I? Maybe it was just my face. Or my hair -- my laugh, that's annoying. Maybe my voice, or the way I walk? Or the fact that I am nobody, hanging out with them? Not sure which one.

But then, all my theories were proven wrong when, a week from that night, in a twist of events, we went out again, and his manners were way different from the previous ones.

Thursday afternoon Alex and I were walking back home after an uneventful day at school, when I spotted someone familiar walking down the road in our direction. I held my breath and turned to Alex, who stared straight ahead, deep in thought.

''Alex,'' I said. ''I think I left something at school. We have to go back.'' I stood in front of him, holding his shoulders and pushing him back.

''What? No, you didn't- everything's here- are you running away from something? What's going on?'' He squealed as I kept pushing him back, which made him nearly trip over his own feet. ''Ow, shit I'm gonna fall, let go!''

Before I could say anything, someone called my name.

''Anna?! Hey, Anna!''

''Who's that?'' Alex asked, peering over my shoulder at Hann coming towards us as I slowly turned around, sighing, not wanting to talk to him at all.

He trotted the last few meters until he reached me, only to engulf my small figure in a massive bear hug (which I didn't know his also small figure was capable of giving).

''Hey, Anna! You disappeared! What happened to you that night? Ross and George were looking everywhere for you. We started playing some game and they thought I'd be nice if you joined. And then Dan's girlfriend said you left -- we didn't know if we should trust her because they were all quite drunk when we started playing games. Anyway, we're having another party this weekend. We wanted to invite you but we figured we didn't have your number so Ross, George and I were considering this a failed mission but apparently you really like to wander around here, don't ya?'' Hann spoke quickly, leaving no time for his breathing nor our understanding, and he seemed extremely excited about seeing me, which was weird.

''Holy shit, calm down.'' I said, taking a step back. ''Yeah, school's right round the corner, and my place is just down the road, so I'm here a lot. And yeah, I guess I left?'' I narrowed my eyes, trying to remember. ''I had to go home. And look, Hann, this is Alex, Alex, this is Hann.''

They greeted each other casually, Alex trying to pretend he wasn't internally screaming (he's actually a professional squealing fangirl) because he loves The 1975 and his favourite member is Hann.

''About the party, what do you say?'' Hann asked, smiling widely.

''Matt hates me. I don't want to have to face him.''

''No, he doesn't, he's just a bit upset, Gemma broke up with him recently.''

I didn't question any further, understanding Gemma was his girlfriend and he was temporarily hating all women. Pathetic, but understandable.

''Well, I don't wanna bother you guys.'' I said, averting my gaze to my battered fake Doc Martens.

''If you bothered us we wouldn't want you to come, then. Come on, just say yes.'' Hann pushed. ''You're invited too, Alex.''

''Well in that case I shall say yes, we're going.''

'''We're'?'' I asked, looking up at him, incredulous.

''Great!'' Hann smiled. ''It's Saturday. Get there at around 5. Here's my number,'' He said, searching for something on his back pocket and taking out an old crumpled napkin. ''...don't any of you happen to have a pen?''

''Here.'' Alex promptly gave him one after taking it quickly off his backpack, which made me wonder about the level of feels that was going on in his mind at the moment -- it was probably higher than I thought.

''Thanks.'' Hann said as he wrote down the number on the paper. ''Here. Now, I've gotta go, but you make sure you call me so I can give you the address. See ya.'' He smiled sweetly and Alex and I smiled back, waving as he continued walking his way up the street.

''Well now that was weird... and awesome.'' Alex grinned. ''You have to tell me everything bout it.''

also, I should announce that I am also getting Birdy's songs as Anna's, but the copyrights are all hers and all that jazz (oh, and I don't know who all the songs from her first album are from -- I know Bon Iver's Skinny Love, but the others I have no clue and honestly I can't be bothered to search).
