''You're gonna be kept here until someone comes to pay the bail.'' The grumpy fat officer grumbled as he pushed me inside the cell and locked it before walking away.
''Well fuck you.'' I mumbled, kicking the bars lightly as he went.
''It's not gonna work, you know.'' A familiar voice spoke and I turned around to be faced with two girls sitting far from each other on the dirty metal bench.
''Hannah?'' I asked, eyeing the blonde carefully.
Her black shirt was baggy, her leggings were ripped, she wore untied converse... She was a complete mess. I almost didn't recognize her out of her usual pink and overdressed self. I was beginning to feel sorry for her, until she spoke.
''Yeah, idiot.'' She said in a 'duh' tone.
''Just asking.'' I grumbled. ''It doesn't look like you.''
''Yeah. I know.'' She sighed. ''Why are you here anyways?''
''Because of... stuff.'' I shrugged, leaning against the wall behind me. ''You?''
''None of your business.'' She scoffed, turning away.
I was silent for a second, perplexed. ''Wow.'' I mumbled.
''What?''
''You're arrogant and stupid even in jail. Behind metal bars. This is a prison, Hannah. We've obviously both done some serious shit, you shouldn't act so superior towards me still.''
Hannah was quiet. She stared at me for a while before huffing and looking away again. I sighed, closing my eyes and thinking of who to spend the one call I still had the right to with.
Suddenly, another voice spoke up.
''How old are you kids?'' The other girl said.
I opened my eyes to look at her, and she still had her head against the wall and her arms crossed over her chest.
''Why would we tell you-''
''We're in high school.'' I answered, cutting Hannah off.
''Anna! What's wrong with you?!''
''What?!'' I looked at Hannah, pissed. ''I just answered a fucking question! Are you mad? Are you calling daddy now? Or the Greens? They can't help you now!'' I snapped in a pissy tone.
''Shut up, both of you.'' The dark haired girl said. ''High school. Both, what, seventeen? Sixteen?''
''Just about that.'' I said.
I shouldn't be answering this girl's questions. She is a random woman stuck in a prison cell with me, who seems to have been here for longer than both me and Hannah, honestly. She wasn't in her best condition, either. She seemed tired, her voice was raspy, her breast length black hair was a mess and her eyes were half closed as she talked. She didn't seem trustable, and yet, I saw something in her. There was something about this woman -- it made me somehow actually think of her as... a friend. Someone like, maybe, me. I shouldn't, but I did.
But it's not like I'm revealing every detail about me to her. But nor am I getting into an argument. Or a fight. But her figure wasn't much different from mine, so I couldn't have my ass kicked so badly in a fight.
There was nothing wrong in talking.
''What have you done?'' She asked me directly. I knew that because she moved her head just enough for it to avoid any eye contact with Hannah.
''I don't know. Something related to drugs or... something.''
''Too high to notice?'' She laughed. ''Yeah, been there, done that. Don't worry, you're still a kid.''
