CHAPTER 20: SIGNS

Jennie’s pov

It was snowing heavily. I can’t even see my grandma’s presence. Wait… where am i? it was really dark. I tried walking around the area. There’s no sign of anyone there. I saw some white lights flickering in front of me. I ran toward the lights direction but it disappear in a split second.

“You shouldn’t look for me, stop it...” a voice said. I started wandering around the area to find the voice’s owner.

“Who are you? Where am i?” I yelled.

I started to panic as I can’t see anything in front of me.

“Leave!!!” the voice screamed and it hurts my ears. I closed my ears with my hands and suddenly stumbled. I was scared.

Then, a light pointed to a direction behind me. I looked behind my back and saw Taehyung was lying on the ground.It was snowing and really cold.

“Taehyung?” I asked. But he didn’t move. I came closer to him and sat next to him. Tears starts flowing down my cheeks when I saw his condition. His body is full of scars and bruises. He didn't even move a muscle. Who did this to him?

I was going to touch him but the lights were gone and it was pitch black again. He was gone too.

“What is this? What do you want from me?” I asked while crying.

I walked a few more steps and heard a loud noise coming from behind. It was a bright light. Then, Taehyung came out of nowhere and pushed me.

At Jennie’s bedroom,

I opened my eyes quickly after I felt like something hit me. It was a dream. My eyes was full of tears and I quickly wiped it. I checked the clock and it’s already midnight. I was breathing heavily and tried to calm myself.

“What is going on? Why is this happening to me?” I said while crying.

I grabbed my phone and called Taehyung.

*on phone*

Tae: Jen?.... why did you suddenly call…? I was asleep until…. (he just woke up)

Jen: Tae? Are you alright? Where are you right now?

Tae: What? yeah…. I’m fine… yah…. Are you crying? Are you okay?

*Jennie didn’t respond for a few seconds*

Tae: Hey, what’s wrong?

Jen: Nothing, it’s just a nightmare… go back to sleep okay?

Tae: wait… Jen… you’re worrying me…

Jen: No, I’m okay now… goodnight…

Tae: But jen…

*Jennie ends the call*

I washed my face in the bathroom and lay on the bed. I can’t sleep so I opened the window and keep counting the stars. I feel more calm afterwards.

After that, I went to my desk and opened my notebook. Taehyung may not know about this but I’m actually on a mission to find her sister. I’ve found some useful clues that can help me to find her.

So far I’ve asked some of her old friends at the school she used to go and some of her mutual. But it wasn’t enough. They said that she might’ve move to another part in Korea. They also said that they saw her working at some groceries store and joined a street band. But I can’t find her anywhere.

I’ve been working hard to find Taehyung’s sister, Sandara. That’s why I keep getting sleepless nights and nightmares.

I wrote some notes and put it back at the shelf. I heard a knock coming from the front door. I walked slowly to the living room to check it. Who would’ve come here at midnight? Grandma’s going to wake up from her sleep!

I peeked through the peephole and didn’t saw anyone there. I was confused. Maybe the person already left? I became sleepy and went back to my bedroom. I walked to my bedroom half conscious. I closed the bedroom window and throw my body on my bed.

“Arghh!” someone screamed. I immediately got up from my bed and grabbed a dictionary. There’s someone under the blanket.

“Yah! Who are you? And why did you come here?” I screamed and throw the dictionary to the person under the blanket.

“Arghh!!” the person scream again.

Then, I grabbed my history book from the shelf and going to throw it again.

“Wait! Wait! Stop!” The person said. I opened the blanket and was completely shocked when I saw Taehyung there. He was holding his head as it was hurt from the dictionary.

“Oh my god! Taehyung, I’m so sorry!” I said then rubbed his head.

“Aigoo… I shouldn’t have done that” he said and keep holding his head.

“Wait… What are you even doing in my bedroom? Are you spying on me?” I asked. His eyes grew wider.

“What are you talking about? I’m not that kind of person!” he said.

“Then why are you here?” I asked.

“Because of you…” he said.

“Me?” I asked and he nodded.

“I heard you crying on the phone? What’s going on? You make me worried” he said.

“I told you I’m already fine” I said.
