Real Life

"So, have you talked to Diego yet?" Jess asked, she was driving us over to Alissa's, so we could go out for lunch.

"No, we're doing that whole space thing. Plus it's only been a week." I sigh, my heart hurt at the thought of Diego.

"Okay, yeah but I figured he had reached out already because he misses you so much." She explains, "And I know you miss him too."

"Well he asked for space, so I'm giving it to him. Of course I miss him, but this is what he wanted and I'm over being mopey. I'm not dating Neels, Diego wants space, Kelsey and Ethan are MIA, I'm just going to do me, and live my best life." I say, smiling over at Jess, I was so thankful she came into my life. She had been a huge support system to me the last couple of days, especially because it felt like everyone else had disappeared on me.

"Well fuck it, we out here living our best lives. Fuck everyone else!" She shouts, looking over to me. "We're here." She parks her car in the driveway, and on que Alissa bounces out of the house.

"Hey babes." She says opening the back door, leaning over to peck my cheek, then kissing Jess'. "What are we having for lunch?"

"Veggie Grill!" I say quickly hoping they agree, even though it's what I always ask for.

"Fine, just because I love you." Jess says, pulling out of the driveway. "You have to direct me okay?"

"Yeah I know where to go." I squeal in delight, who cares if I've had a couple rough days, I get food, not just food-veggie grill.

"OMG, you and your veggie grill. But I'm down I love their fries." I squeal, happy that she agreed. All I could think about was their sweet heart fries.

"Melissa and her fucking veggie grill." Jess rolls her eyes at me, laughing.

"Hey guys, so right now we are getting lunch," I look back to see Alissa talking to her camera, I laugh I should have guessed she would be vlogging today.

"Hey Alissa fans," I call out, Alissa focuses the camera on me. I wave and blow a kiss. "We're getting Veggie Grill, Woot woot." I see Jess to the side of me, looking confused.

"Here's your food." The waitress set our food on the table, "Enjoy, if you need anything just let me know."

"Thank you." I smile at her, ready to devour my food.

"Oh shit, don't look up right now." Alissa says, sipping her drink looking slightly distressed.

"What why?" I ask almost looking up, but she gave me a death glare.

"Seriously don't look up, Diego, Tana, Kelsey and Ethan just walked in." Jess whispered in my ear. I couldn't help myself, someone says don't look up and of course I do. I peek and my heart plummets. Diego had his arm around Tana, with Kelsey and Ethan behind them, they were ordering their food.

"Oh fuck, oh fuck. Maybe we can get a box and sneak out of here?" I say, really wanted to leave, but not wanting to leave my food.

"No." Jess says, "Look we were here first, and we aren't leaving. Enjoy your food, this is literally your favorite place, fuck everyone else remember?" She gives me a reassuring smile.

"Yeah, fuck everyone else, we are having a delicious meal, and no one is going to ruin that." Alissa smiles. I nod, still feeling anxious. Never in my life had veggie grill ever seemed unappetizing until now.

"Melissa?" I hear someone call my name, my heart plummets. I look over to see Kelsey and Ethan walking over, both with worried eyes.

"Oh hey," I say giving her a smile, I stand up to give her a hug. I move to give Ethan a quick hug as well. "Nice to see you guys." It felt awkward to see them, they were my closest friends yet there felt like a wall in-between us.

"Hey." Jess and Alissa say, giving them small waves, focusing on their food.

"Where have you been? I haven't seen you lately?" Kelsey asks, I feel slightly angered by her. Where have I been? She was the one too busy to answer her calls and texts, I take a deep breathe before answering.

"Just been hanging out with Jess and Alissa." I say smiling, leaning my head on Jess' shoulder.

"Oh," She says, shifting uncomfortably, at least I wasn't the only one,

"Well hangout soon, I miss my smelly melly." Ethan says laughing.

"Uh yeah, I'll see." I just wanted the conversation to end before Diego came to see what they were up to.

"Hey guys what are you doing?" I physically cringe at his voice, and I think everyone notices, Ethan and Kelsey give me sad eyes. "Melissa." He mumbles out, eyes falling on me.

"Hi." I reply curtly, wanting the conversation to end, really missing my bed and sweatpants.

"You done eating babes?" Jess asks, she waved the waitress over. "Can we get a couple boxes please?"

"Yes three boxes." Alissa says, giving her a warm smile.

"Oh you guys are leaving?" Kelsey asks, confusion in her eyes.

"Yeah we have somethings we need to do." I say, giving her a reserved smile.

"I gots to get me some vlog content baby!" Alissa laughs, "Oh Rice is calling, can you put my food in the box Mel? I'll be right back." She answers the phone, stepping away from the table.

"Yeah, no problem," I say, already packing my food. "It was nice to see you guys."

"Where are you going?" I hear Diego's voice ask.

"Out." Jess answers, grabbing her things holding her hand to me.

"Don't leave cause we're here." Diego says, I haven't looked up to see him. If I looked at him I think my heart would break again, space is literally the worst.

"We're not. We have to get ready, we have a date thing." Jess says in a rude tone towards Diego, I imagine she is giving him a death glare as well, but again I refuse to lookup. Sometimes it feels like she is more upset with him than I am, but I thoroughly appreciate having her by my side since no one else seemed to.

"Date thing?" I hear Diego's voice raise.

"Yep, now bye. We got to give you space for your little thing here." I can only imagine the eye roll and glare she is giving to group right now.

"What are you guys doing over here?" I here a hugh pitched nasally voice, I assume it's Tana's. We got to go cause looking anywhere else is getting awkward and sort of hard seeing as everybody seems to be surrounding us.

"Ew." I here Jess say. My queen, my literal queen Jess. "Bye jerks."

"Bye guys." I say grabbing my stuff and Alissa's, I take Jess' hand and follow her out. I hear a chorus of byes behind me.

"That was the worst." I say, feeling like someone punched me in the gut. "You didn't need to call them jerks, Jess" I say softly, I appreciate her sticking by me but she didn't need to alienate herself from the others.

"I'm so sorry baby, I can't believe they were there, Diego doesn't even eat healthy shit and the only thing Tana eats that is organic is dick. And yes I did, Diego is not only a jerk but a dumbass hoe, Kels and Ethan are jerks because even if they are trying to be there for Diego, the way they have been treating or actually not treating you but ignoring you is not fucking okay with me." Jess says, wrapping her arm around me.

"Well fuck everyone right? Let's go do something fun now!" Alissa says, "We should go out tonight!!" She cheers. I nodded my head, knowing I needed a distraction, hoping this would help.
