Real Life
(two days later)
"Diego, I have to go." I groan, as he refused to let me up from his couch.
"No little baby don't go." He whines, refusing to let go of my side, nuzzling his face into my stomach.
"Diegoooooooo. Neels flight is landing in 20 minutes and its takes at 30 minutes to get there, and probably more time to find parking. And add more time cause you know my ass will get lost at some point." I argue, pulling his arms of me.
"Get your ass back here when you're done." He says, finally letting me go. "Now you better go, cause you're definitely going to get lost."
"Shut up Diego." I give him a hug, heading for the door. "Bye D."
"Wait," He pulls me back by my arm, giving me a kiss on the cheek. "Alright you can go baby." I roll my eyes, heading out the door. The second I sit down in my car, I feel a lump in my throat, and nervousness flow through me. I have to see Neels today, and I wasn't sure how things would go.
"Neels, I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" I say running through the airport to the tall blonde boy, standing by luggage area, looking very unamused and unhappy.
"You're almost an hour late, Melissa." He grumbles, annoyance clear in his voice.
"I know, I'm sorry! I was running late, and then I got a little lost, plus traffic and then I got lost about where I could park and now I'm here. I literally ran Neels, I ran over here cause I felt so bad." I was still out of breathe, worried about the attitude I knew Neels was about throw at me.
"It's fine. You know how much I hate tardiness, it's a bad reflection of character." He says walking away from, heading towards the parking lot entrance.
"I know, I know, it looks bad on me, but it wasn't on purpose." I say, practically running to keep up with his long legs. "Are you hungry Neels?"
"Yes, and no I don't want Veggie Grill." He groans, "Where did you park?"
"Okay, that's fine, it's your pick then!" I say with a smile, trying to keep a positive attitude. "And the second floor, right in front of the elevator."
"Yeah fine, cool. Let's go to sugarfish."
"Okay, sure. Sugarfish sounds delicious." I smile again, as we get on the elevator. The door closes, and we are enclosed in a horrible awkward silence. I rack my brain for something, anything to say.
The sound of my phone ringing interrupts the silence. I look at the screen
diego❣️
I go to click ignore knowing that a call from diego would just add onto the things Neels is already upset with me about.
"Answer it." I hear Neels' voice, looking up to see him looking down at my phone.
"Oh, uh okay." I fumble out, too nervous to properly think.
"Hello?"
"Hey little baby, what are you doing?"
"Uhm, I just picked up Neels, going to drop his luggage off and then lunch."
"Oh yeah, how's that fucker?"
"Diego! You're on speaker, say sorry."
I look up to Neels, and mouth sorry. I can see the anger in his eyes, but know he will just hold it in, rather than express himself.
"and? I'm not saying shit. When are you coming back?"
"Fuck Diego, don't be an ass right now. Idk, I'll text you later."
"Alright, I'll see you babyyy." He emphasizes the baby, and I roll my eyes and hang up on him.
"I'm sorry about that Diego, he acts up sometimes." I mumble, "So how was the flight?" Neels doesn't even look up from his phone.
"It's whatever, and it was fine, a flight." He still doesn't look at me, he walks out of the elevator spotting my car, and not waiting for me. I unlock it, and we both get in.
"So how long are you staying?" I ask, we never discussed how long he would be here, just that he was coming.
"Two days for sure, depends on other things if I stay longer. I'm not going to stay at yours though, I'm staying with Alissa." My eyes snap over to him.
"What? You don't want to stay with me?" I ask, trying to hide the hurt in my voice. I was unsure why I felt so hurt by his decision not to stay with me, I guess it was a reality check to how bad things have gotten.
"No, no babe. It's not that I don't WANT to stay with you, I just don't think it's a good idea. We aren't in a good place right now, and I don't want to push it." I sigh knowing he was right. I put the car in reverse and start driving to Alissa's.
"Look Melissa, I miss what we had, we used to be so good together." I look over to Neels and see the distress written all over his face. "And this lil xan creep? I'm not comfortable with it, he is obviously into you."
"I know we used to be great, I miss it too. And Diego is not a creep, he is one of my best friends." I say, with guilt eating me at the mention of Diego, knowing Neels had a point. I shared a kiss with Diego and Neels had no idea. "He's not into me Neels, he literally has a line of girls waiting for him."
"Well I want us to work okay, and he is, he calls you baby and other nicknames, I'm not okay with that. And other girls don't compare to you, I don't what girls are into him, I bet they aren't half the woman you are." He sighs in frustration, I pull into Alissa's or the Clout house driveway.
"MELISSA." I hear Alissa shriek, she was standing at her balcony waving. Neels and I get out of the car, waving back to her.
"Hey guys!" I hear Ricky's voice, as he opens the door to let us in.
"Ricky my man." Neels says, pulling him into a bro hug. I go to give him a hug as well.
"Hey little one, haven't see you in a while and you're not the one who lives on the other side of the country." He laughs.
"I'm sorry, I've been busy." I laugh as we head into the house, I can hear Alissa yelling somewhere in the house, something about pee.
"Oh yeah, you've been kicking it with that lil xan dude right? He has some great tracks." He mentions, receiving a glare from Neels.
"Oh yeah, been with him, Ethan and Kelsey a lot. But he does have some great tracks" I smile thinking of Diego.
"You should bring them by sometime, especially xan- vlogs with him would be lit, and rice wants to lay some beats with him." He says, ignoring the glare from Neels, which escalated to a death glare.
"I think you had this pitch ready, but yeah I'll bring him sometime." I laugh hoping to ease the tension. "Alissa where are you?"
"Right here baby!" She leaps down the stairs, jumping on me. "I've missed you!"
"I've missed you too!" I say holding her up. She lets go, grabbing my hand and pulling me to the stairs.
"To the puppies and girl talk, bye boys!" She yells leading us to her and Ricky's room, I assume. "Babe order us postmates, please and thank you!" We both laugh, leaving the boys in the living room.
