Real Life

"Baby, do you really have to go?"  Neels says as he takes clothing out of my suitcase.

"Neels, stop unpacking everything I've backed." I whine, trying to repack everything he keeps taking out. "And yes I do. We can't keep living in fairytale land. School starts back this week, and I cant miss any classes. Plus I do have things to get back to."

"What that stupid kid with sharpie all over his face." He grumbles, sitting down on the edge of his bed.

"Neels! Don't be rude! And he's my friend, a really good friend of mine. I haven't even left yet and you're already picking a fight." I sigh, running my hand through my hair.

"I'm not trying to pick a fight. I just don't get why you hang out with that kid, he is obviously not going anywhere in life." He rolls his eyes, scrolling through his phone.

"Are you seriously still trying to fight with me about this. We've talked about this already, and I hate when you act so condescending towards other people. You don't know Diego, he is an amazing person and if you could get your head out of your ass, you could see that." I zip up my bag aggressively, grabbing it heading for the door. Neels and his fucking higher than though attitude irritated me so much. It was one of the reasons why I felt this relationship was struggling.

"Melissa! Don't leave mad." He walks after me.

"Well don't be such a piece of shit then. We have this fight all the time, I can't do this if this is how you're going to act." I say exasperated.

"I'm trying babe, I am. I just can't change over night."

"Look, I really don't want to have this fight again, can you just take me to the airport, please." I sigh, I just wanted to get home.

"Yeah, fine. Whatever." He rolls his eyes. Shoving his phone into his pocket and storming ahead of me.

The ride to the airport was awkward, and painful. Saying goodbye to Neels was too easy, and I felt like things and decisions were becoming easier for me. I just wanted to back to L.A. back to the friends that I missed so much.

I sat at my gate, waiting for my boarding group to be called, when I received a text.
