Real Life

"Melissa!" I hear Jess call from the living room.

"In here, babe!" I call from my room, I was sitting at my vanity doing my makeup.

"Whatcha doing?" She says, entering my room

"We are going to a pool party." I smile at her, "I spent the last 2 weeks moping, and I need to enjoy myself."

"Fuck yeah, whose pool party?" Jess says excitedly.

"Remember that guy from the bar? Well he invited me." I say feeling a smile creep on my face.

"Bitch do you know what a one-night stand is?" She keels over laughing.

"It was not a one-night stand? We just made-out a little." I say laughing, "Plus he found my Instagram and DMed me."

"Yeah, and he is hot as shit." Jess said, "Have you talked to him a lot?"

"Shut up," I laugh, "And no just a little, and its just casual. You know friends?"

"Uh-huh sure. Do you have bikini I can borrow?" Jess was laying on my bed throwing up a pillow in the air.

Bang bang.

We hear a pound at the door, Jess, and I both get up and peek out the curtains from the living room window. Diego, Ethan, and Kelsey are all standing at the door.

"Fuck." I whisper, not wanting them to hear me. "Do you think we can wait them out?"

"Did you see Diego's face? No way is he leaving anytime soon." Jess sighs, "Man I was excited about the pool party."

"OPEN THE DOOR MELISSA!" I hear Diego's voice, full of aggression.

"We know you are home! Your car and Jess' car are outside!" Ethan's voice chimes in.

"Please Melissa, we need to talk." Kelsey adds on. I roll my eyes, fuck of course this is what happens. I just wanted to go out, and nope life wants to put me right back down.

"What are we going to do? They know we are here." Jess whispers to me.

"I don't know, this was not how I planned today going." I try to think about what we could do. "How about we just get ready, and then we walk out that door, past them into the car?"

"I mean we can try that, I can't guarantee that Diego won't throw you over his shoulder and make you talk to him, but worth a try."

"Fuck." I walk back to my room, to finish my makeup and change.

"I haven't heard them at the door for a bit? Maybe they left?" Jess mentions hopefully as we walk to the door.

"One can only hope." I say, I take a deep breathe before opening the door. Diego, Ethan, and Kelsey were all sitting across from the door. "Fuck." I mumble. All three scramble to stand up, as I quickly lock the door after Jess, and head towards my car.

"You're just going to walk past us?" Diego yells. I ignore him, as best as I could. I fasten my walk, hoping Jess is right behind me. "Melissa, you better stop walking away from me." I hear his footsteps quicken, and a hand touch my arm.

"Look we have places to be, leave me alone. You asked for space, I respected that. Now that I'm asking for space, do the decent thing and give me it." I hiss moving my arm out of his reach, why is my stupid car so far away.

"Melissa, please." I hear Kelsey's voice call to me, knowing she was close to tears by the tone of her voice.

"The facts that all three of you are harassing me when I made it clear to you guys I needed space is cruel. I'm finally feeling okay after a miserable 2 weeks  and you guys just want to ruin that." I snap, turning on my heel to face them.

"Melissa," Jess gently grabs my arm. "Don't, lets just get going." She says softly.

"Baby, I'm so sorry. I know I hurt- "

"Stop it Diego. Stop calling me baby. Stop following me, give me the space that I asked for, for fucks sake." He stands there, hurt clear in his eyes, I look at Ethan and Kelsey who are standing behind him like scolded puppies. "I've got to go, we've got to go." I point between Jess and me.

"Bye guys," Jess says, I see her turn and whisper to them, "Give her some space, she'll come around. I promise."

I quickly unlock my car, getting into the car as Jess goes around to the other side.  I put the car in reverse, wanting to escape and leave the three people that hurt me the most in the past 2 weeks. I needed this pool party.
