Chapter 10

*Carl's P.O.V*

Soon enough, we will be leaving. We are gonna take care of the enemy and then force a draw. We are gonna take care of business and then continue to live on with the rest of our lives. I am not scared. I won't back down. Everyone should know that by now.

"Your dad is almost ready." Ali told me as I was getting my gun all ready.

"Yeah, I know." I said.

"The RV is what we are taking. I figured that your dad had said that we will be leaving soon. He wanted to hit the road before dark." Ali explained as she watched me. I know that my back was turned to her but I can hear her. Loud and clear.

"Tell dad that I will be down in a sec." I said and she nodded and I heard her footsteps go down.

I took a deep breath and then I walked out of the room to be met with Enid.

"Carl." She said.

"What?" I asked.

"Glenn's still not back, I need to be there for Maggie."

"I said no." I said.

"Carl." She said.

"You were wrong before. Place isn't too big to protect. You need to stay back and protect it."

"This place is ready. Most of us has been trained, you know that." She said while I continued to look through some stuff real quick.

"If you were worried about an attack, you wouldn't be leaving." She then added.

"You know how far the Hilltop is, you know what could happen? Those saviors are out there. You know what they did to Denise, what they tried to do with Maggie and Carol, to Daryl, to Rosita, to Eugene. That's not happening to you. I'm not gonna let it." I said and then continued to do my thing.

It was silent for a bit. I knew she was still near me.

"What about Ali?" She asked.

I stopped dead in my tracks.

"What about her?" I asked and turned to look at her.

"Why is she going?"

"What is the point? I need her there." I said.

"And you don't need me?"

"I have to protect her, okay? It's easy for me to even keep you protected if you just stay back. I am not letting you come with me and Ali. I told you no once and I won't tell you again." I said seriously.

"It's not a hero thing to you anymore. It's because you have a crush on her. You don't give a damn about being a hero that you claim to be. You always say you're a hero to Ali but it's not so fazable to you. You can only give a shit. You like her, that's why you want her there." Enid snapped.

"What is it to you?" I asked.

"I'm trying to make a point."

"There is no point in what you are trying to tell me." I said.

"You wanna run into him, right? You hope they show up. Jesus, this is about getting Maggie to a doctor not about.. screw it I'm going." She asked me.

"Enid stop." I stepped in front of her.

"Just wait." I said.

"Get out of my way." She said raising her voice.

"Carl."

"Just grab some pistols from the closet but hurry. We gotta go now." I said.

I watched her go into the closet and then I closed the door behind her.
