Chapter 43

|Time Skip- A year and a half later|

*Ali's P.O.V*

I was sleeping in my bed until I was woken up by a noise. What on earth could this be? Who is waking me up at this time of day?

"Ali, wake up." I heard.

I slowly started to wake up and then when I turned my head, there was Judith standing there, starring at me.

"What is it Judith?" I asked.

"Can we finger paint?" She asked in the most adorable voice ever.

"At this time of day?" I asked.

She nodded and I couldn't really say no to her. I see her as my little sister so what can I say? I got out of bed and tried to look somewhat decent. Then I put my hair in a ponytail so that my hair doesn't get in the way.

It has been a year and a half since the war had ended with the saviors. It's a new beginning.

Negan has been in a cell for that long of a time and he's still gonna continue to rot in there for good and forever. Everything has been going well the past year and a half. I have been living at Alexandria but don't worry, I did go back to Henry when the war was over.

|Flashback|

"You're back." Henry said coming out of the building of Hilltop as I was walking in.

"Yeah, I'm back like I promised." I said giving him a hug.

"Are you staying here?" He asked me.

"I will be staying here for a bit. But I will have to go back to Alexandria. I have Judith to take care of." I said and he nodded understanding.

If I can stay here forever then I would but I do have duties at Alexandria as well and I can't just pack up and leave. Especially since I am the next person to be leader, I can't just be away for a long time.

"Everything went alright?" He asked me.

"Yeah, everything is good. Negan isn't gonna be a problem anymore. It's a new start to everything."

"I'm glad you came back. I needed you."

"I'm always here." I said softly.

I didn't even think that Henry and I were gonna be this close as friends. But I guess after what had happened to him, I can never let him go anymore and I have to look after him so that nothing happens to him again. I can't have that happen anyway.

"If it was up to me, you wouldn't leave at all. But I understand, I am just happy that I get to spend some time with you before you have to go back home." He said looking at the ground.

"I won't be gone long. Soon enough, I will be back and I will always be by your side. That won't ever change." I promised him.

"Thank you, Ali."

"Anytime kiddo." I said.

|Flashback over|

I had stayed at Hilltop for a few months, with the exception of going back and forth to Alexandria and Hilltop for a bit. But then I ended up going back to Alexandria and staying there. It probably has been a few weeks since I seen Henry. But I am sure that I will see him in a few days because there is something that Rick is getting into. He wants to build a bridge.

"You girls finger-painting?" Michonne asked as Judith started to paint.

"Yeah, she wanted to do it." I said having Judith on my lap.
