Chapter 44

*Ali's P.O.V*

So different people from each community are working on this bridge that Rick wanted to get done. It's been a month since Gregory died and people have been doing okay with the decision. It's not like anyone really cared. If you get what I mean?

I am here at the bridge to look after Henry before it's time for him to go back to the Kingdom, which is soon. 

Rick gave me clear instructions that I am here to make sure that everything goes okay and that nothing happens with the saviors. The saviors are being put to work, even if they don't want to be doing anything.

"How much longer until you leave?" I asked Henry as I ate a bag of crackers.

"Most likely in a few days. Carol had made it clear." He said.

"I honestly don't know when I'll be able to see you after. This could be the last time I ever see you for a while so I wanna make sure that I spend all the time that I have with you." I said and ate another cracker.

"You're gonna be able to visit me anyway so I have nothing to worry about."

I gave him a smile.

I finished my pack of crackers and Henry had to go and do his job. Henry is in charge of giving the saviors some water. 

So that's what I watched him do. I just watched him give water and it seemed to be going okay at first but then it went downhill.

He went to Justin and gave him the small cup that we had and Justin poured himself some water and then drank it. Then Justin went for another sip of water.

Henry had to stop him.

"Hold on, kid. I'm still thirsty." Justin said.

"No, there isn't enough." Henry said.

Which is true. We had limited water to give to the saviors.

Justin pushed Henry off and then took the plastic tub that held the water and drink some more of it, taking other people's chance at having water.

Henry got back up and took his bo-staff and just went for Justin.

"I said back off." Henry said and hit Justin with his bo-staff making Justin go down.

I smile at Henry's bravery and I am impressed with what he did. But I now have a problem with Justin because he did push Henry.

I got up and went over to him.

"What is your problem?" I asked.

"I was thirsty." He shrugged.

"You knew well enough that there wasn't enough water. You only get the limited amount that we can give you. There are other people here too, it's not just about you." I said.

"I would watch what you say, little girl." He said.

No one calls me little girl. I spit in his face and then slapped him. He did not look happy with what I did. But then Daryl came over.

"Ali, I got this." He said.

"Hey, kid is just doing his job." Daryl said.

Justin didn't say anything and just turned around but Daryl pulled him back and then punched him. Daryl was fighting him until Justin came and threw sand in Daryl's eye. 

But then luckily, Rick came and save the day. He was gonna calm things down.

I went over to where Henry was.

"You're brave." I said.

"Probably but I'm not brave like you yet." 

I titled my head and glanced at him.
