Tragedy

The last few days flew bye and today was my baby shower, The House was completely alive with all the McIntyres, Wahlbergs, Danny's mom Betty And Jordan and Jon's mom. Rae and her mom were helping out well Rae was with me trying to help me find something to wear that didn't make me look like they could float me over the super bowl. Joey was never help with this he just keeps telling me "you look beautiful!" Kay invited my dad but like I figured he refused, party was going to be at the same party hall as my sweet 16 just a few months prior. Joey looked distracted all morning and he just kept saying "I'm fine it's fine." He seemed to constantly be ducked in corners every time I look whispering with Jon and Danny. It was about 11am when Joe said he and Jon had something to run and do and he would see me at the shower. The baby shower was supposed to start at 1 So shortly later everyone started to head to the party house to get everything set up. It was about a 12 when Kay left to head over leaving me and Danny. Danny was sitting on Joe and Mines bed well I was finishing getting ready in the bathroom " you know you don't have to wait for me Danny!""I know, I just don't have shit to do til it's time for the party ""well if that's the case can you come here and help me with this zipper I can't reach it?" He got up and walked into the bathroom to help me " Lee you look gorgeous!"" Thanks but tell the truth you could float me over the super bowl ""Lee no you are beautiful, Joey is so lucky" he finished the zipper on my dress and I turned and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you Danny!" Just then his phone rang and he took it in the other room. " Lee I got to meet up with Jon real quick you want me to drop you off on the way?""no thanks, Imma leave in a minute I just have to do my lashes.""ok see you in a bit, and he walked down the stairs and left. " shit" I left my lashes downstairs in the bathroom all I remember is running down the stairs and my heel getting caught on the carpet on the stairs, I can feel myself start to fall then everything went black.
Danny was still in the Jeep in the driveway "shit where is my fucking keys" as he searched the car he realized that he must have left them upstairs in the room and headed back in "Lee are my keys up there, Lee" just as he turned the corner there I was at the bottom of the stairs blood coming from the gash in my head and my arm tucked underneath my body. " Lee, LEESA wake up please, oh shit!!" Danny left the phone in the car only thing he said he though to do was to get me into he Jeep and speed to the hospital. He picked my lifeless body up as the blood from my head drips down on him " shit Lee it will be ok, wake up for me please!" Anyone can hear the desperation in his voice as he sped off as fast as he could to get me to get me to Mass General. " come on Lee wake up, wake up for Baby Brooklyn she needs her mama, Joey needs you we all do! Wake up please!!" He pulled up to the hospital, picked up my body blood still gushing all over the Jeep and him dripping on the ground underneath me as he runs into the emergency with me in his arms "SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE!!" Doctors and nurses all rush over with a stretcher and immediately start to work on my lifeless body. " Sir do you know what happened?""I don't know she was getting ready for her baby shower when I left""she pregnant sir are you the father?""no that's my niece in there!" And Danny goes to run to be there with me but the doctor stops him " sir you can't go in there we need to work on your sister now how far along is she?""June she is due in June"" ok have a seat and let us work"" is...is she going to be ok is the baby going to be ok?""We will do everything we can, now stay out here and I'll come as soon as I know anything!" Danny called Joey and Betty and a Little while later everyone came rushing through the emergency room door Joey runs straight to the desk " excuse me excuse me my fiancé was brought in""calm down sir who is your fiancé?""Leesa Engert where is she is she ok!?" " calm down sir" and she pulls my name in the computer " can I ask you to take a seat sir""no I'm not taking a seat where is she?!"" Sir""sir nothing do you know who the fuck I am,I want to see her now!!""that's not possible sir she is in surgery right now""surgery?""yes someone will be out to talk to you as soon as they can!" Donnie walks over and leads him to the seats and they wait and wait as Joey cry's into his hands and Danny paces the floor. Everyone sat in silence waiting on word on me on Brooklyn.
It was several hours before Doctor Peterman walked into that silent waiting room " Joesph, ""Doctor Peterman Lee is she ok what about the baby?""Well she is stable right now but the baby" in that instance Joey knew he didn't have to hear the words "NO!" " I'm sorry Joesph we did all we could the baby didn't make it""no...""I'm so sorry Joesph" and he just crumbled to the ground in tears. There was no consoling it was a type of cry that comes from a place deep down of pain a pain no one can console or heal.
It was about a hour later when the doctors agreed to let Joey up to the room to be with me. He sat in the chair next to that bed for hours, the hospital keep me sedated allowing my body a chance to heal from the trauma. I ended up suffering a broken wrist a major concussion, a broken rib and 6 stitches in my head, none of that mattered though because I lost something that couldn't be replaced Brooklyn. It was sometime early that next morning when everyone headed home to try to get some sleep. At some point there was a knock on the door when Joey looked up he wasn't prepared to see who was on the other side of that door when he opened it "Joesph "" Mr Engert what are you doing here?""She is my daughter""She wasn't your daughter when you kicked her out and told her to abort our daughter!" You can see in rage on Joe's eyes and he did everything in his power to control it. " I understand your mad I do apologize""thank you""how are they?"" They you don't know?""know what your mom just said she fell and I should come up"" their is no they anymore Leesa lost the baby when she fell!"" Oh no!"" She hasn't even woke up yet so she doesn't know""I am so sorry Joesph!" And my father hugs him " if you want you can sit I know she has missed you""I will" So my dad pulled up a chair on the other side of bed and Joe and sat in silence waiting on me to wake.
About 8 o'clock that night when I finally. Joey sleep in the chair next to the bed " Joey!" His eyes popped open "Hey sweetheart how you feeling " and he leans to kiss me " hurting, what happened?"" You don't remember?"" No""you fell on the stairs when you were getting ready for the baby shower ""baby" my hand goes straight to me stomach " the baby how's the baby"" Lee the baby....""what about her she is ok right?"" No my love she isn't, she didn't make it!" Tears streaming down Joeys face. " shut up Joey that's not funny" I look over to his face and I knew. "No please, Joey please say your joking" he gets up and lays on the bed wrapping his arms around me " oh baby I wish I was, our Brooklyn is gone"
