I won't speak

You have a daughter, her name is Claire, she's nine years old, and she's extremely talkative, never shuts up, but not the annoying type of won't shut up (Like Kankri).

So, then, she starts getting progressively quieter as her baby sister gets more and more sick.

It gets to the point where she hasn't even spoken for a week, and then she looks you in the eyes, and says, with a dead serious look in her eyes "I won't speak.". You get a little worried, but you have a sick baby to take care of, Claire's voice isn't exactly your top concern right now.

The next day, you wake up, and find Claire isn't in her room, or the house. There's some of her stuff missing, too. You call everyone you know, to see if Claire went over to their house, but no one says they've seen her.

You start to panic (more than you already were, that is), and search the whole house again. Claire doesn't pop up, but you find a piece of paper on her desk with three words written on it. 'I won't speak.'

You know Claire wrote it, and you panic even more, wondering just what she was talking about.

Your friends come over, and you start talking about where she could be. Your cousin's kid pipes up, 'Claire is okay. She's helping Faith.', this confuses you, and everyone else even more, but you brush it off as weird things kids say.

You look everywhere for Claire, and find nothing, you call the police, and get everyone you can involved. You don't get any sleep, and refuse to until someone either knocks you unconscious or you find Claire.

Then, one morning, you go downstairs, and Claire's sitting on the couch, staring at the floor. You run up to her, crying, trying to make sure she's okay. She smiles at you, and walks away to her room. You're really confused at this point.

She comes back with the paper, the one that had previously said 'I won't speak', but now, the word 'Won't' has been crossed out, something written above it.

The paper now says 'I can't speak.'.

Claire never spoke again, or used her voice in any way.

She had gone completely mute.

But nothing bad ever happened to Faith again.

You wonder what exactly happened, but you're sure of one thing.

Claire went mute for Faith's safety.

I need some weird/dramatic backstory for a weird thing Valentine does now. Maybe why she calls herself Valentine instead of Veronica.

Oh wait, that one's easy, and, same with Casey calling herself Akari.

So, they go by their middle names, Valentine and Akari, instead of their first names.

So, on a different topic, I'm curious if there's any way I could pull together a March Eridan outfit for next month, but make it A, more comfortable for me, and B, make it slightly less obvious it's from homestuck like, without the Aquarius symbol or the purple streak or the things that are just giving off Eridan vibes, but keep it close enough so that Homestuck fans will know what I'm doing

I'm probably going to scrap the idea completely and end up wearing the same outfit I always do. We'll see.
